It was almost a game; a game of back and forth subtle displays of affection between two stubbornly shy Captains that drew ever on and on, seemingly with no 'winner' in sight.
A fleeting glance here, a soft compliment there... As amusing as it could be for their companions to watch from a safe distance away, they couldn't help but wonder who might finally confess first.

"There's no way around it," Erwin sighed, lightly rubbing the palm of his hand against his creased forehead, eventually dragging his gaze up towards his subordinates standing aloof in his office.

"You are all required to attend; both for representation and hopefully, persuasion in receiving some new sponsors. Zackly's orders; err, the first part, anyways."

Section Commander Hange was nearly bouncing on the balls of their feet, hands brought up in a clasp by their chest.

"Oh, persuasion is easy. We won't let you down Erwin." They grinned enthusiastically. Though it seemed, not everyone joined in their enthusiasm.

Captain Levi, for one, was far less amused. With a huff he crossed his arms over his chest, shifting his weight from foot to foot as he scowled.

"Is our presence really so critical to Zackly? Or is he just hoping for some sort of entertainment amongst us and the jeering pigs with the MPs?" He drawled out, certainly unimpressed.

"Regardless, we were asked to attend this gathering. So naturally, to behave formally, I have accepted his request we make ourselves present." Erwin answered simply, hardly retaining a tired sigh at Levi's usual stubborn antics.

"And to swingle the higher ups for funds." Levi went on to groan, turning his bored gaze out the window parallel to Erwin's desk.

"Funds he uses to get your tea. Don't take his persuasion tactics so lightly, Levi," Miche snorted, a bit of a grin poking at the corner of his lips.

"Well, I think it could be fun. It'll be my first time attending a formal event as a Captain," Y/N piped up, hands folded respectfully behind her back despite her growing excitement. At her obvious interest, Levi scoffed softly to himself and loosed his arms from being folded in front of his chest.

"Guess it won't be so bad. Y/N needs exposed to this sort of thing, and I'd value keeping tea on the menu in HQ." He shrugged, his eyes darting from Y/N's side and then back out the window to watch the grounds below.

Nanaba shared a quiet knowing look with Miche, who returned her gaze with an exasperated shake of his head.

"Yeah, we'll go with that," He snorted quietly, to which Nanaba muffled her chuckle behind a pale hand.

Y/N raised a brow their way, but before she could question their amused antics, Erwin cleared his throat.

"Regardless of personal reason, you will all be joining me in four hours time to begin the trip to Sina. That will be all."

Muffled murmurs from her departing comrades escaped Y/N's ears as she was suddenly pulled aside by a grinning Section Commander. Meeting their wide eyes, Y/N tilted her head in momentary confusion.

"Hange? What-"

"I'm helping you get ready! You heard the big man; we're representing the Survey Corps, which means we need to look our best! Especially if we want to swingle more funds for our equipment. You're going to turn heads when I'm done with you my dear!"
Hange grinned, eagerly leading the woman out of Erwin's office and down the winding halls of HQ with a firm hand planted on the younger girl's shoulder.
