"Your late detective" a man, probably in his mid 30s wearing a green overcoat that hung on his shoulder, snapped
"Hm? Who are you?" Ranpo asked "where's Yasui-San?"
The man let out a sigh of of frustration as he rummaged through his pockets and pulled out his badge "I'm Minoura I took over from Yasui, Our department is handling this case, we don't need you or your agency"
"Is that so-"
"Rubbish! a master detective like myself is always in need for difficult cases like these!" Ranpo boasted, interrupting M/n
"I'd never ask a hack agency for help on this!" Minoura retorted
"Why not?"
"Because the victim was my subordinate" he explained, the cloth was quickly pulled off to show the body of a woman. Her skin has darkened with a tint of a pale bluish hue and clothes soaked and stained with the strong smell of decay.
Ranpo took off his hat expressing pity towards the victim "it's a lady...."
"This body was discovered floating the river this morning" the officer explained
M/n turned to Minoura "Mister Minoura you said that the Victim is your subordinate right?"
"that is correct..."
"Then aren't you not allowed to take on this case?" M/n asked
"excuse me?!" he exclaimed, staggering a few steps back from m/n's question
"Detectives nor officers cannot be assigned to a case if the victim is a close acquaintance," M/n explained. "A personal connection to a case can affect the trial and investigation."
Minoura narrowed his eyes at him "what kind of bullshit are you spouting?" He snarled "are you trying to kick me off this case?"
"Of course not, it was just a fun fact that I thought would be necessary to inform you with" M/n scoffed, taking a step away from the fuming detective.
Minoura narrowed his eyes at M/n as he stared blankly back at him.
M/n turned back to the body "let's focus back on the case shall we?..."
"yes let's continue. wouldn't want to give any time to the murderer do we?" M/n remarked
"Three shots in the chest that's all we know, we don't have a crime scene, time or even bullets that we can examine" the other officer informed
"So who did it" Ranpo asked
"We don't know" Minoura admitted "And from what I know working with her, she didn't have a lover"
"Well it sounds like to me.... You have no leads" Ranpo teased
"That's why we can't leave this to amateur detectives such as you guys" Minoura countered
"Apologies if I may sound rude"M/n interrupted "but of all the detectives I have seen, my coworker here has been capable of solving even the most complicated of cases"
The man just scoffed at M/n's comment "That's just a biased opinion-"
"You shouldn't underestimate the younger generations, officer" M/n interrupted again a small sneer laced in his monotone voice. "maybe that's why you guys take years to find even the smallest of evidence"
Minoura put his foot down "I've had enough with your attitude!" he snapped, gritting his teeth "leave the-"
"Sir we caught something in our net!" an officer exclaimed
Everyone turned to him "a net?" Atsushi asked
"We have a net out on the river to ensure that no other evidence floats away" another officer explained
