"The killer is you sergeant Sugimoto" Ranpo deducted, his hand pointing to killer of the case, the story.
The silence among everyone was intense. It was so silent you can hear a pin drop.
"Pfft HAHAHA" Decective Minoura bursted out laughing. "is your ability to make people laugh?! Officer Sugimoto is my coworker on the force!"
"Yes and he's killer" Ranpo repeated, his smirk never faltering.
"Don't be absurd!" Minoura snapped "why would the killer come back to the scene of the crime?"
"Because he wants to stay close to the investigation" Ranpo calmly replied "and did I not mention before that I have evidence to prove it?"
Ranpo turned to Sugimoto "Seargent why don't you show me your handgun"
"Pardon?!" Sugimoto exclaimed "I am not allowed to hand my private revolver to a private citizen! I'd have to take a pay cut or maybe even a demotion!"
"Okay, hand it to M/n then!" Ranpo simply concluded
"M/n?!" Atsushi asked in confusion while Dazai only chuckled
"Of course! M/n isn't exactly a private citizen since he's a certified government military employee!" Ranpo explained as if it's common knowledge
M/n let out a dissatisfied sigh "is this why you dragged me along?" He groaned "I only work there as their forensics-"
"Well that's one of the reasons!" Ranpo cheerfully answered
"Enough!" Minoura sternly snapped as he rubbed the temples of his head "citizen or not my officer will not hand over his handgun"
"But look at it this way" Ranpo reasoned "if we examined his hand gun and it came up empty we will leave this case and not bother you ever again! Sounds like a great deal right detective?"
"I have enough of your bullshit" Minoura tsked and barks an order to Sugimoto "show it to him"
"H-huh? but sir-"
"If we prove him wrong he and his little show crew can skedaddle on out of here" Minoura snarled
Silence
"Sugimoto? What are you waiting for?"
"What a shame" M/n smirked
"Even in a town like this your average citizen wouldn't know how to load a gun" Ranpo explained
"Why the silence Sugimoto?" Minoura asked, worried.
"Because he's thinking" Ranpo answered "he's thinking about how he'll ever explain the three missing bullets inside"
"Sugimoto!" Minoura roared in anger "you can't be the killer! Just hand over the gun already!-"
Finally after the long wait Sugimoto slowly moves his hand to the gun by his holster
"That's right Sugimoto...if you hand over your gun then we can prove them wrong!-"
All the sudden Sugimoto clicked the safety off aiming the gun directly at Ranpo
"SUGIMOTO WHAT ARE YOU-"
"BANG!"
The gun went off but fortunately no one was caught in the crossfire, why? Because Dazai pushed Atsushi in which he managed to restrain him on the ground. What a domino effect am I right?
"Let me go! I have nothing to do with this!" Sugimoto pleaded as he tried to pull away
"There's no getting away now" Ranpo says as he bents down to the erratic officer "you killed her early yesterday morning. Or to be more precise..."
