It's been two weeks since Shiro lived in Hina and Ryo's hut on the edge of the forest. Her life on Earth took on new colors, and daily activities that had previously seemed strange and foreign to her slowly became routine. She went out for walks, helped Ryo work in the field, and in the evenings she sat with Hina by the fireplace, learning about the human world and its customs.
One day, while she was sitting on the bench in front of the hut, watching the birds flying over the forest, Hina approached her with a bowl full of freshly harvested herbs.
- Shiro, could you help me? - she asked, sitting next to her. - We need to prepare infusions. There are a lot of colds in the village now, and our herbs can really help.
Shiro nodded, reaching for the bowl. Touching the delicate leaves, she felt their softness and intense scent that reminded her of the forest after the rain. Previously, she had no idea that plants could be so diverse and that each of them had its own property.
- Hina - she began shyly - why do you devote so much time to helping others? I don't know many people like that.
Hina smiled warmly, tearing off the mint leaf and throwing it into a small bowl.
- Shiro, helping others is the most beautiful thing we can do. Life on Earth is not always easy, and people need each other to survive. - Her voice was soft, but full of certainty. - Anyway, when we help others, we also feel better. It's like passing light on.
Shiro looked at her, clearly moved. In Otsutsuki's world, help and empathy were something unknown, even despised. There was a principle of strength and domination, with no room for weaknesses and emotions. Now, however, she was slowly beginning to understand that there was more than just power on Earth.
- I've never felt someone treat me like that - she confessed quietly, looking at her hands. - In my house... there... no one worried about others. Everyone cared only about themselves.
Hina nodded her head as if she understood her pain.
- What do you think, Shiro? Is this the life you would like to lead? - she asked gently, but there was concern in her eyes.
Shiro was silent for a moment, thinking about the answer. She had so many contradictions in her. Part of her soul still wanted to return to the moon, to a place she knew after all. But here... here there was something that made her feel truly alive.
- I don't know yet - she finally replied. - But... I think I would like to know who I can be here. On Earth.
Hina smiled, placing her hand on her shoulder.
"You have plenty of time, Shiro. And we will be here to support you.
After lunch, Ryo suggested that they should go to a nearby village for supplies. Shiro wasn't sure if she was ready to meet more people, but Hina convinced her that this would be a good opportunity to get to know life on Earth better.
When they arrived at the market, Shiro was stunned by the noise and movement. People talked, laughed, children ran between the stalls, and the smells of fresh bread, herbs and fruits mixed with each other, creating a unique atmosphere.
Ryo pointed to the fruit stand.
- Shiro, why don't you choose something for dessert for us? - he suggested, giving her a few coins.
Shiro walked uncertainly to the stall, looking at the pile of juicy red apples. The saleswoman, an elderly woman with gray hair and a warm smile, noticed her hesitation.
- First time at the market, huh? - she asked with a smile.
Shiro nodded, and the woman handed her one apple.
