A few months later, there was unrest in the village. More and more often, news about the war going on nearby reached her. The once peaceful forests that surrounded the settlement have now become an arena for passing troops, and at night the sounds of fighting began to be heard. Shiro saw how fear crept into the hearts of the residents. People began to hide, preparing for the worst.
One day, when she was returning from the field in the morning, she heard a terrifying noise. Armies were coming - armed warriors, whose presence brought death and destruction. Shiro felt the blood in her veins begin to pulsate faster. She saw that the villagers, including her adoption parents, Hina and Ryo, had no chance of defense.
Shiro ran into their hut, where Ryo tried to calm his wife down. Hina, despite her age, held an old sword in her hands that she could barely carry.
- Shiro, you have to run! - Ryo shouted as soon as he saw her. - This is not your fight. You're young, you have to live!
- I won't leave you! - she replied firmly, feeling that something deep inside her was starting to wake up. Something she has never experienced before. Too many times she was already forced to flee, to abandon what mattered to her. Now, on Earth, for the first time, she felt that she wanted to fight for those she loved.
However, they did not have time for further conversations. The door of the hut was suddenly balanced, and armed attackers entered. Hina and Ryo stood in front of Shiro, trying to cover her, but they were too weak and too old to do anything.
In an instant, Shiro saw the blades pierced their bodies. They fell to the ground, and their last looks were full of care and love directed towards the girl. Shock and despair hit Shiro like a wave. When she looked at their dead bodies, something broke in her.
She felt her eyes start to burn, and the world around her was becoming clearer. Byakugan - eyes that allowed her to see everything within a radius of many meters, activated in response to a deep emotional trauma. The world has become bright, every detail visible like never before. She could see not only her opponents, but also their vital points.
The attackers froze for a moment, seeing the change that had taken in the girl. Her eyes, now shining with intense lavender, filled them with horror. Shiro raised her hand, and her body was gripped by a strange, almost supernatural power. However, it was not the only ability she discovered in herself.
Tomogoroshi no Haikotsu - Kekkei Mora, an ancient and extremely powerful technique inherited from the ancestors of the Otsutsuki clan. It was a technique of death, born from the darkest corners of her clan's power. It consisted of creating special, murderous bullets from Shiro's bones, which, when hit the enemy's body, not only pierced it through, but also caused it to immediately decompose at the cellular level. Every target hit by Tomogoroshi no Haikotsu crumbled into dust, destroyed in the blink of an eye.
Shiro felt the power begin to flow through her body. She ejected one of the bones from her forearm - a deadly, spiked weapon. The attackers took a step back, but Shiro was not going to spare them. She raised her hand and pushed the bone towards the first of the attackers. The bullet pierced him through, and his body began to fall apart, turning into dust.
Other opponents tried to attack her, but Shiro gracefully avoided their blows, using Byakugan to see their every move. Her movements were fast and precise, and her face remained unmoved. Every roll of the dice was deadly effective. One by one, the attackers turned to dust.
Finally, when all the opponents lay dead, Shiro fell to her knees, tired of fighting and overwhelmed by the loss. Her eyes, full of pain and grief, looked at Hina and Ryo's bodies. They were the ones who gave her a home, love and a chance to start anew. And now, because of the brutality of the war, she lost them forever.
Tears flowed down her cheeks, mixing with the dust of the enemies she had destroyed. She took a deep breath, feeling the weight of death that was now resting on her shoulders. She was already sure that she would not escape her destiny. Although she found a home on Earth, she could not escape from who she was - the Otsutsuki being, powerful and cursed.
Shiro knew that her life would never be the same again.
Shiro ran through the forest, not turning around for a moment. With each step, she left behind chaos, war and death. Her eyes were still burning with tears, and her heart was squeezed with pain after the loss of Hina and Ryo. However, she knew she had to move on - she couldn't afford any hesitation. Her Byakugan was still active, so she noticed every tree, every unevenness of the terrain, every slightest movement. Escape became almost instinctive, and the steps were quick and precise.
When she felt that she had reached far enough, she stopped, panting heavily. She looked around the dense forest, surrounding her on all sides. The darkness fell slowly, and the coldness of the evening reminded of the coming night. Without thinking, she began to collect dry branches and leaves, spreading them into a small pile on the ground.
When the fire began to burn slowly, Shiro sat on the damp grass, staring at the dancing flames. The heat of the fire soothed her tired body, but she was unable to warm up the coldness that reigned in her heart.
- Now it's my home - she whispered to herself, pulling her knees to her chest. - Just me and the forest... Only me and silence.
She sat in silence, listening to the sounds of nature. She felt lonely like never before, but at the same time she was ready. She understood that from now on she would have to rely solely on herself. The "survival" mode was no stranger to her - thanks to what she learned from Hina and Ryo, she knew how to survive in difficult conditions. She was ready to face any challenge that would stand in her way.
She put her hand to her chest, where she still felt the remains of Tomogoroshi no Haikotsu's activation. This power was extraordinary, but also dangerous. It was a technique of death, something that could be both a weapon and a curse for her.
- Maybe I'm more than just an outcast - she said quietly, her voice drowned out by crackling wood. - Maybe I have something in me that I don't understand yet... But now I have to use it to survive.
Suddenly she heard a soft rustle in the bushes behind her. She broke to her feet, her senses sharpened, and Byakugan activated automatically. She looked into the darkness, trying to see the threat.
A small fox emerged from the shadow, whose sparkling eyes looked at it with curiosity. The animal stopped a few steps away from her, as if exploring the area, and finally sat down, looking at her carefully.
- It's just you - she sighed with relief, squatting slowly. - Just like me, you're looking for a safe place, right?
The fox kept staring at her, as if he understood her words. Shiro reached out to him, and the animal moved a little closer, sniffing her fingers.
– You know, I was left alone. I lost those I loved... but I can't stop moving forward," she said in a whisper, and a tear ran down her cheek. "Maybe you also need a companion?"
The fox sniffed her hand, then came even closer, stacking at her feet. Shiro smiled gently, feeling that at this moment, in this wilderness, she found at least a little comfort.
"I'll call you Kage," she said, gently stroking his fur. "Together we can do it, right?"
Kage, as if to confirm, squealed softly, hugging her hand. Shiro felt that she was no longer so completely alone. Even in the darkest moments, life was able to give her a bit of light.
She sat by the fire all night, sharing with the fox the leftovers of the food she took with her from the village. She knew the coming days would be hard, but she was ready. She had the strength and determination to survive. Now, with Kage by her side, she was ready to face any danger that awaited her in the wilderness.
