Dahyun stood in front of his mirror, adjusting his shirt for the third time, anxiety bubbling beneath the surface.

Today was the day he had decided to ask Kaede out on a date, and his heart raced at the thought.

He had replayed the moment in his mind countless times—how he would approach her at the café, the way he would ask her if she wanted to spend a day together at the amusement park. He wanted everything to be perfect.

After a few more self-affirming glances in the mirror, he took a deep breath and left his apartment. The café was just a short walk away, but it felt like an eternity as he navigated through the bustling streets. The sun hung high in the sky, casting a warm glow on everything, a fitting backdrop for the nervous excitement he felt.

When he finally stepped inside the café, his gaze immediately fell on Kaede. She was sitting at her usual corner table, her short black hair falling delicately over her sketchbook as she drew.

The world around him faded as he watched her, completely absorbed in her art. He couldn't help but smile at the sight. Gathering his courage, he walked over.

"Hey, Kaede!" he called out, his voice slightly unsteady.

She looked up, her eyes brightening when she saw him.

"Dahyun! Hi!" She closed her sketchbook, setting it aside. "What's up?"

"Um, I was wondering... if you'd like to go on a date with me?" The words tumbled out before he could second-guess himself.

"I was thinking we could go to the amusement park. It's supposed to be a lot of fun."

Kaede's eyes widened in surprise before a broad smile spread across her face.

"Really? I'd love to!"

Dahyun felt a rush of relief mixed with excitement. They quickly made plans and soon found themselves walking through the colorful gates of the amusement park, the air thick with the sweet scent of cotton candy and popcorn.

"Look at that roller coaster!" Kaede exclaimed, pointing at the towering structure, her face alight with enthusiasm.

"Can we go on it first?"

"Absolutely!" Dahyun replied, matching her energy as they headed toward the line.

As they waited, they chatted about everything and nothing, laughter punctuating the air around them. Dahyun felt himself relax, his nerves dissipating as Kaede's presence became more familiar and comforting. The thrill of the ride left them both breathless, and when they stepped off, their cheeks flushed with exhilaration.

They moved from ride to ride, sharing cotton candy and playful banter. Dahyun was determined to impress Kaede, cracking jokes and teasing her about her exaggerated reactions to the rides. But as the day wore on, he felt a growing desire to share something deeper.

While they stood in line for the next attraction, Dahyun turned to Kaede, his heart pounding.

"I have to tell you something," he began, his tone shifting from playful to serious.

"I've been having these dreams lately."

Kaede looked at him curiously, encouraging him to continue. "What kind of dreams?"

He hesitated for a moment, feeling the weight of his words.

"There's this girl in my dreams," he confessed, his cheeks heating slightly.

"She looks a lot like you, and I always feel this... connection to her. It's like she's someone really important in my life."

Kaede's breath caught in her throat. The description sounded eerily like her. She tried to suppress the rush of emotions flooding her, the realization hitting her hard. This was the person she was meant to protect.

"I feel like I knew her before I even met her," Dahyun continued, oblivious to the way Kaede's heart raced at his words.

"It's weird, right?"

"No, not weird," Kaede replied, trying to maintain her composure.

"Maybe it's fate?"

Dahyun nodded, his expression softening. "Exactly! It's like everything led me to you."

The conversation lingered in the air as they made their way to a quieter part of the park, where the sound of laughter mixed with the gentle rustle of the trees. The sun began to set, casting a golden hue over everything, and the vibrant lights of the park started to twinkle to life.

They found a spot on a grassy hill, where they could watch the sunset together. As the sky transformed into shades of pink and orange, Dahyun turned to Kaede.

"I'm really glad we did this," he said, his voice sincere.

"It feels like we've known each other forever."

Kaede smiled, her heart swelling with warmth. "Me too. It's been the best day."

The evening air grew cooler, and they settled close together, the space between them shrinking. The fireworks began, illuminating the night sky with bursts of color, each explosion reflecting in their eyes.

"Wow," Kaede breathed, captivated by the beauty of it all.

Dahyun's gaze shifted from the fireworks to Kaede's face, illuminated by the sparkling lights.

"You know," he said softly, "if I hadn't met you, I would have never believed in this kind of connection. But now... I can't help but feel lucky."

Kaede felt her heart race. He had no idea how much she wanted to protect him, to keep him safe.

"Just be careful," she said playfully, nudging him. "Or I might have to save you again!"

He laughed, a bright, infectious sound that made her smile widen. "I'll keep that in mind."

As the final fireworks faded, Kaede looked at Dahyun, a new sense of purpose solidifying within her. She was ready to embrace her role, to protect him, even if he didn't know it yet. In that moment, under the stars, everything felt right.
