He instantly ran up to the counter...

And there she was...

Her body remained motionless on the floor, there was a river of blood beneath her which heavily contrasted with her light appearance.

Alex began to shake as his heart was racing, his thoughts were all over the place. He didn't know what to do, or how to react.

He bent down and took her arm to check her pulse.

He let out a gasp, "She...She still has a pulse!"

He placed two fingers a few centimetres from her mouth. He felt a sense of relief, "She's still breathing as well!" Alex looked around the room. "I need something to help stop the bleeding, though...What do I do..."

He then took off his jacket and shirt and used the shirt as a temporary relief for her bleeding. He held Rosie in his arms. "Why Rosie...? Why did you have to do this?" He whispered as tears fell from his eyes. He wrapped his arms around her as he continued to cry.

He gently placed her body back down on the floor and got out his phone to call the emergency service.

"Don't worry, Rosie...The emergency services will be arriving shortly...Don't worry...I'll be here with you." He muttered as he brushed his fingers through her hair. "Hold on...Why do you have bruises on your face...? She has them all over her body..."

He started to feel a sense of worry and concern again. "Who would do such a thing...!? This amount of violence..."

He touched her face, "I'm so sorry this happened, Rosie...I..."

There was a knock on the door, he went to open it and was met by the paramedics. They walked in and did an examination on Rosie.

"Alright, she has a pulse and is breathing...But it's at a very, very slow rate. And it also seems she has no sense of consciousness...We have to get her to the hospital immediately, and who are you to her?" the paramedic asked.

"We're close friends...She doesn't have anyone else, so is it okay if I could come along?" Alex replied.

"Yes, we have to get inside the car quickly though. Come on."

The paramedics group and Alex immediately went inside the car and rushed to the hospital.

Once they reached the hospital, Rosie was put into an emergency care unit whilst Alex was made to wait outside.

His thoughts were disorganised, he had several questions but the main ones were; why did she do it? Was she getting bullied at school? But if so, who would beat her up so brutally?

He clenched his fists as he gritted his teeth. "Why? Why!? Was it...Could it be because of me!? Why would she do this!?"

He grabbed onto his head as tears filled his eyes. "Nothing makes sense anymore..."

It was nearing the night, there were different people coming and going but Alex remained in the waiting area. He would often stand up and walk around, and then sit whilst the same thoughts ran through his mind.

"Why are they taking so long-"

All of a sudden, a nurse came and called his name.

He immediately stood up and walked to her.

"Yes! What's happening with her?" He asked.

"Follow me." She replied.

They walked through the corridors and took the lifts until they walked into a cold and dark hospital ward, and there she was, eyes shut and lying stationary on the hospital bed. There were plasters and bandages all over her body including different medical equipment placed all around her, including her face. Seeing her in such a vulnerable state brought immense grief to Alex.
