13. jealousy, jealousy

Kim Haerin

“You both are leaving?” Grandma asked me while I closed the curtains of the ward. “Yes, we will be back in the morning.” I spoke, walking towards her. I gave her a hug, closing my eyes. Her smooth and lousy hands caressing my cheeks from the side.

“Sleep well, the nurses will be here. If you feel alone don't mind calling me, I will be here anytime.” She chuckled, patting my head. Her laughter delighted my soul.

“Don't worry too much about me. I am still capable of taking care of myself, you are here is just enough for me.” I looked at her, her lips had an alluring smile. Pulling me towards, she pecked my forehead which made me giggle.

“Now you should go, your friend might be waiting for you. He is new here, make sure that he doesn't feel out of place.” I nodded, holding her hands.

“Don't worry Grandma, I will take care of him.” I gave her a reassurance smile until a knock was heard, revealing the nurse that entered inside.

“The meeting time is up Miss, the patient needs to rest now. I would prefer you to leave now.” She politely notified me, as I nodded quickly giving a squish to Grandma's hand before I gave her a hug for the last time.

“Sleep well, Grandma. Goodnight!” Beaming a bright smile towards her, I waved my hand at her and she did the same before I gave a bow to the nurse before leaving the room.

It's been five years, I left this place.” I exclaimed, opening my arms in air while twirling around, capturing every corner of the house in my eyes. “It feels so calm in here.” I smiled, inhaling a deep breath when my eyes landed on Heeseung. He was observing my every move which made me flustered causing me to awkwardly laugh.

“Well, I mean this is my house where I spent my childhood, I was just intrigued by emotions.” He smiled at my silliness, giving me a head shake.

“Where do I put these?” He asked, dragging the grey suitcase, that belonged to me. Putting my thumb and index finger under my chin thinking while roaming my eyes around to look for a particular place. “Leave them here, I will take it in my room by my own.” I suggested getting a nod from him.

“Well we have just two rooms here, so you can take Grandma's room for the time. I had already told the caretaker to arrange it for you.” I explained, pointed at a room that was located in the corner of narrow hallway. Heeseung followed my gaze nodding his head in approval.

“You can go and fresh up first, in the bathroom. It is near the stairs. Till then I will prepare dinner for us.” I said, while taking the suitcase to move them in my room, when Heeseung interrupted.

“Actually there is a problem....” He hesitated to complete his sentence which made me frown. My forehead creased as I faced him again for him to complete his words. “I didn't brought any clothes with me.” My mouth hanged open in disbelief. The irritation is visible on my face.

“I don't think you didn't had an idea about staying here for long. You knew it, yet didn't bother to pack just an extra pair of clothes with you.” My hands rested on my hips, while I tilt my head my eyes showing pure incredulity.
