𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗔𝗟 chapter fifthteen
Celeste's room was filled with excitement and the soft sounds of music playing in the background. Lydia stood in front of the mirror, her dress flowing beautifully around her as she curled the ends of her hair. The warm glow of the fairy lights strung around the room added a touch of magic to the evening. "How do you think it looks?" Lydia asked, twirling a strand of hair around the curling iron.
Celeste had carefully applied concealer over the word "ATTACKED" etched on her wrist before lydia had arrived, hoping to mask the evidence of her secret struggles from anyone who might notice.
" It looks amazing!" Celeste replied, carefully slipping on a pair of delicate earrings. She walked over to join Lydia, a teasing grin on her face. "I mean, you're basically a princess right now. You know that, right?"
Lydia rolled her eyes, but her smile betrayed her excitement. "And you're the queen of hearts. Seriously, I'm glad you're wearing that dress. It really brings out your eyes."
"Thanks!" Celeste said, stepping behind Lydia to apply some blush. "You know, it's funny to think that just a few weeks ago we were stressing over who would even take us to this dance."
"Yeah, but look at us now!" Lydia said, a playful glint in her eye. "We've got dates, killer outfits, and we're about to tear up the dance floor!"
Just as they were getting into the rhythm of their preparations, a knock on the door broke their moment. Celeste looked toward the sound and called out, "Yeah?"
The door swung open to reveal her mom, beaming with pride. "You two look beautiful!" she exclaimed, her eyes sparkling as they landed on her daughter and her friend. "Oh, and Stiles is here!"
Celeste's face lit up with a radiant smile. "Thank you, Mom!"
"Thank you!" Lydia chimed in, her excitement bubbling over as she hopped slightly on her feet.
Her mom nodded approvingly, stepping back and leaving the door ajar as she walked out to greet Stiles.
Celeste turned back to the mirror, her eyes glinting with mischief. "Okay, let's take a picture before we head out!" She crouched down, reaching for her camera nestled among her makeup on the dresser.
