With half the school suddenly idolizing you and the other half whispering about "Y/n's heroic showdown," you finally muster the courage to yank Mariko’s article from the crowded message board, marching it to the journalism club—where he finds not a bustling newsroom, but four eager faces ready to turn his life into their next headline...

You stand in front of the school’s message board, eyes narrowed at Mariko's article plastered in the center.
It’s surrounded by handwritten comments and doodles that range from “Go Y/n!” to “Who knew he was that kind of guy?” You clench your jaw, feeling the stares and whispers of passing students. Determined, you yank the article off the board and March into the journalism club
The clubroom door is slightly ajar, revealing four students inside together, looking at a mock-up of the next article. Mariko, caught up in her excitement, doesn’t notice Y/n until you clear your throat.
Y/n: We need to talk – You walk up to them, placing the article onto their table, which is actually four separate desks huddled together
Mariko's eyes light up with excitement
Mariko: Oh, Y/n! Just the person we wanted to see! We were brainstorming ideas for the next issue—maybe we could do a follow-up on you!
You resist the urge to roll your eyes, causing your eyelids to twitch nervously
Y/n: This... ‘heroic showdown’ you wrote about? – You take a bright yellow marker from Mariko's hand, and line the exact words "Heroic Showdown" in the article – It was blown way out of proportion
One of the other club members, a tall, lanky guy with round glasses, leans forward, squinting at Y/n with a curious expression.
Glasses Guy: Really? It made you sound kind of... I don’t know, legendary?
Y/n: Legendary? I just told a bully to back off. And now people are acting like I’m some kind of school vigilante!
Mariko, looking slightly abashed, reaches out for the article.
Mariko: Okay, maybe I leaned into the drama a bit. But you have to admit, it was pretty inspiring.
You stare her down, unimpressed
Y/n: Inspiring or not, people are treating me—and possibly Poka—differently because of this. She’s getting unwanted attention, and I... I don’t want any attention, period.
Mariko’s expression softens. She hesitates, glancing around at her three fellow club members as if for support. Finally, she sighs.
Mariko: Look, Y/n, I didn’t mean to mess things up for you. But this is the most engagement the club has had in months – She clasps her hands together, pleadingly – People actually came to our board to read it!
The shorter girl beside Mariko, who’s been quiet until now, perks up.
Short Girl: Yeah, we’re kind of... a small operation here, if you didn’t notice.
You glance around at the club members—four students, none of whom seem particularly cut out for big journalism careers. There’s Mariko, the excitable one, Glasses Guy, the curious skeptic, Short Girl, the sarcastic one, and finally, a tall, serious-looking girl who hasn’t spoken yet, just watching you with an unreadable expression.
Y/n: I get it, okay? You want to make something of this club – You cross your arms and grit your teeth – But can you do it without putting me in the spotlight?
