Today, the school courtyard is eerily calm during the lunch hour, a stark contrast to the storm brewing in your head

Yet another day alone... Thankfully this time it was your choice

You talked to Mariko and her folks, the club is starting to grow in its own pace, it is no longer a simple excuse to occupy a vacant billboard; They aren't placing you on spotlight, which eases a lot of pressure on you

Your status as a school celeb still stands, every now and then you catch a few people stealing glances at you, talking about you to their own tightly-knit groups

Poka has confirmed this fact, being a good listener as she is, she is able to perceive and discern what the crowds whisper about you; She's looking much better today, a bit more confident in herself, even

Maybe leaving her to bond with the members of the club did some good for her, because in the position you occupy currently things are not looking very good for pretty words

Sitting on the edge of a planter, you pick at the remains of your lunch, staring at the buzzing crowds scattered across the campus

Cliques cluster together like islands in a sea of shifting alliances. The athletes. The art kids. The nerds. And many more. Each group with their own rules, their own hierarchy, their own territory

As much as you try comparing you and the clubists with other cliques, you can't seem to imagine yourself fitting, and that's why you chose to have some more time alone

You thought that maybe being by yourself for a bit can help you understand your situation better and what to do about it

You’ve never really thought about it before. The social dynamics of the school have always been background noise. But ever since that game, it feels like the spotlight is on you. And not just any spotlight—the kind that makes you sweat

You sigh, tossing a crust of bread to a nearby bird. "Only if Hiro was here.... Certainly he'd give me the best advice I could ask for, in his own oddball way"

Hiro always seemed to know the right moves, both in games and in life. His tactical mind, his calm demeanor, his way of turning every setback into an opportunity—it’s what made him different from all friends you've ever had

You close your eyes, imagining his voice: calm, measured and with his trademark edge of playful sarcasm

"If you're in a game you can't win outright, don't panic. You play the long con, Y/n"

Y/n: *crossing arms, sighing* Great advice, Hiro – You mutter under your breath – “But what’s the long con here? I’m already stuck in her game, am I not?

For a moment, the answer eludes you. Then it hits like a flash of light in the fog

"Join the game" – Hiro’s voice echoes in your head again, this time sharp – The best way to end her game isn't to avoid it, it is to play it better than she does"

"Join the game."

You sit up straighter, the weight on your shoulders easing just slightly. If Mika thrives on controlling the social web of the school, then the way to stop her is simple:

Pull the strings tighter than she can.

A new purpose dawns on you as you stand, brushing crumbs off your lap. The path ahead is clear
