Purple neon lights casted a glow over a close friend's lavish mansion. Rasheed tested the lighting for his upcoming Halloween bash that was sure to bring the who's who of New Orleans out to play. Angelo stood in the center of the floor with his eyes fixed on his phone. Notification after notification, his mind was overwhelmed with dating. He recalled why he settled on random sexual relationships with women. They had an understanding, agreeing beforehand on the terms of the connection. Marriage was the total opposite of what he preferred. He had to feel each of his six options out and make them all fall in love with him. That was nearly impossible with difficult girls like Devon and Nashea. The latter made herself unavailable to him. He couldn't reach her. She blocked him on everything. The only time Gelo saw her was on photo-ops with his brother.

"Gelo" Rasheed drew his attention away from the plethora of messages in his phone. He was elated to have a break from answering them. "Wassup?"

"I was saying that the theme of the party is masquerade" He beamed, grinning widely. "Everybody will have on masks so you'll never know who's who. I thought that shit would be something different and funny" His best friend shrugged, testing the orange neon lights over the area. "Which one do you like the best?"

"Purple" Angelo told him, dropping his eyes to an update from Devon. She was on a picture with her husband and kids, smiling like one big happy family. He sucked his teeth. "How am I even supposed to marry her when she's married? It's almost November. She can't divorce this nigga in a month and marry me. That's literally impossible"

"What're you talking about?" He froze, realizing that he spoke his thoughts aloud. Angelo was going insane, trying to figure it all out. He wanted to go through with it mainly to save himself. The money enticed him, yes, but living past thirty-five was the ultimate reason he was willing to marry someone fast. "Nothing. I'm just talking out my head. You know they talk about the pressures of hitting thirty. Your family starts pressuring you to get married and shit" His gaze went towards the ceiling, looking to heaven with bitterness in his heart. "I'm facing that right now"

"Gucci's single" He shrugged off his weirdness, flipping the lights to green. "and vulnerable. Her single flopped. She might be ready for another hustle since the last one ain't working out. Hey" Out of nowhere, Rasheed switched topics. "Is it true that your grandfather left your father with just the mansion in California and gave his money to all of y'all?"

It certainly was true. The reading of the will revealed how much Amir Laurent didn't care for his own son. He left him with a house that had a mortgage and his grandsons with millions. Mercedes and Cashmir inherited two hundred million a piece. The rest would go to Angelo.....if he got married by the end of 2024. He had to face that the "dream" was a premonition. A warning before the will was even read.

"You can't believe everything you hear" Angelo responded, unwilling to embarrass his father and reveal family business. They were dealing with enough press already. No need to add more. "Who all did you invite to the party?"
