Chapter V. Mission

A group of Rebel pilots run toward a group of X-Wings docked in the headquarters' hangar while Mako climbs into his cockpit, starting systems as alarms blare, signaling launch for several fighters.

He begins to launch, his fighter hovering over the landing platform as the landing gears raise, turning his fighter around to launch out of the hangar.

His ship jets out of the hangar toward a squadron of fighters and bombers over the Rebel headquarters, just as a pair of U-Wings fly into the formation.

"All fighters reporting in." Blue Leader says as the group begins to accelerate, entering lower atmosphere.

"Let's save some priority prisoners." Gold Leader says.

Just as they enter jump range, a Twin Blade frigate exits hyperspace, smoke and fire coming from it's hull as several battered and torn squadrons of fighters and transport ships exit hyperspace along it, heading toward the Rebel base.

"My god what happened to them? Looks worse than a large Purgill attack." Mako says as the first of the squadrons jump, heading toward the Imperial prison world.

He jumps, the blue hue of hyperspace and the figures of several Rebel starships in the FTL speeds glowing in his face as he relaxes in his pilot seat.

He flies past the Imperial defense post, being tailed by a pair of Tie Fighters as the Juggernaut filled with Rebel prisoners and Imperial defectors is disabled by an ion strike from Gold Squadron.

He cuts his engines into full reverse and spaces behind the Tie that was once tailing him, turning the tables of engagement as he blasts the tie into pieces, dodging laser cannon fire from the prison itself, flak rounds exploding around him.

"Last mark down, skies are clear." Mako says, flying past the Juggernaut transport as the pair of U-Wings touch down.

"Cover us while we disable those guns, maybe we can blast a hole into the prison for a riot." Gold Leader says, the squadron of bombers flying in a line formation toward the prison.

"Copy that." Mako says, blitzing past the bombers and firing a pair of proton torpedoes at a turbolaser, destroying it as he strafes infantry on the wall.

The comm garbles from the Juggernaut. "Priority prisoners secured, mission complete, head back to Yavin."

"Roger. squadron, clear the way of any remaining defenses and chart course for home base."

"Yes, sir," Mako says, flying past the U-Wings and firing another pair of proton torpedoes at a defense satellite in orbit, disabling it.

"Make the jump to hyperspace, mission complete."

Mako shifts the hyperdrive lever, sending him into the blue void as the U-Wings jump.
