"Will you tell me what happened yesterday? Before i screwed everything up?" Emma asked once again.
"Honey, nothing happened, just two best friends having fun" Debbie asked.
"Then why are you so tense today?" the youngest asked leaving Debbie speechless.
"Was it that bad?" she asked and Emma laughed.
"So something happened yesterday" the youngest asked for the third time.
"I swear honey, nothing happened"
"Why?" Emma asked annoyed and Debbie looked confused.
"Excuse me?"
"Why the hell nothing happened?" Emma raised her voice annoyed.
They were alone, with wine in their system and they still weren't able to reveal to each other their feeling, they were acting more childish than Emma.
"I swear mama, why do you avoid happiness?" Emma asked.
"Sweetie, i am really confused" Debbie asked not understanding what was happening with her daughter and why she was overreacting.
"I just want you to be happy and for you to have this happiness you should allow yourself to love mama" Emma said.
"Lou is a very nice woman, she cares for you, she cares for me. She treats me so nice and she didn't need to, she makes me pancakes and she gets nervous whenever you are around"
Debbie's mouth was opened.
"I don't understand why you push away everyone that cares for you truly, and you kept things going with dad for what? Only for me to never know what real love is" Emma continued. "Do you know how fucking hard it is for me to difference love and friendship or love and suffering?"
"Because here is what happened last night, i did the same fucking thing you do, i pushed away a really nice guy who told me he loved me and that was the only person who truly knows my scars and my truth, because i am not able to love" Emma cried "And you can love someone but you are too scared and too proud, is it because she is a woman? is it because she is your best friend or is it because she showed you how love can burn and make us weak?"
Ocean's aren't weak.
"Emma is have no idea what you are talking about, Lou and i are friends and that is it" Debbie cut the girl.
"I am sorry i couldn't show you what a true love is, but i loved your father, i did but he hurt me and you have no idea what that is like" Debbie said with an angry voice.
"You are young and immature, you don't understand how the world works and how sometimes we do need to push away important people because that is power and that is safe" Debbie continued with a louder voice. "Nothing happened yesterday, i wish it was different"
"Mama, i just don't understand why it is so hard" Emma sobbed. "I just want a family, like Isabella, like everyone from school, like the movies i see because i feel incomplete. It is so hard to see you here and think that the man who donated his sperm is in jail, because he didn't love me but i did love him"
Emma ran to her room.
"Baby, please, i don't want to fight" Debbie said as she knocked on the girl's door.
"Mama, i am sorry" Emma apologized opening the door. "I am going to miss him"
The girl started to cry and Debbie hugged her tight.
"It's okay, i am here"
"But i wish Lou was too" the girl whispered but Debbie heard.
"I think you should get more sleep, you need to rest" Debbie said and the girl laid.
