I just moved to New York alone to attend NYFA because it's my dream to be an actress. I was struggling to find my apartment though. The Serrano which my parents are obviously paying for. I had a map and everything but I was just struggling. Like really struggling. I was walking while reading. I finally found it. "Yes." I mumbled to myself. My stuff was already moved in. We came here like last month to get settled in so I wouldn't have to do it when I actually moved here. I had my first "class" tomorrow. It was basically orientation or something.

"Good morning, my name is Phillip Layton, you can call me professer or Dr. Layton. Today we will be giving everyone mentors. The best part about it is that they're actors slash actresses and no you can't pick for yourself." He said and he paired people with actresses and actors, for example, someone got Kirsten Dunst. Lucky! "Lastly, Alexandria Jackson with Skylar Astin." He said and I gasped. Skylar Astin? He's literally my idol. I'm not gonna tell him that of course. "Hi. Your Alexandria?" He asked coming up to me with a huge smile. I almost couldn't say anything. "You can call me Lexi or Alex. Whatever you prefer." I told him also smiling. "Okay...Lexi." He said.

We could go anywhere to...I don't know exactly what but I was hanging out with Skylar Astin at a restaurant.. "So, we're not gonna do anything big and crazy. I was instructed as your mentor to ask you some questions, like...why do you want to be an actress?" **Because of you..** "Uh, I never really thought about that. I guess, I was never really noticed as a kid and...I don't actually know but I know that I've wanted this career for as long as I can remember, basically." I said. "That's actually pretty good." He said and chuckled.

"Have you ever thought about getting a singing career? If you can sing." He said. "Oh, I can. I love singing. Music can take my mind off anything. It's practically therapy for me." I said and we laughed. "That's how I feel too." He said and I smiled. "Okay. I know we just started but break time. Favorite band?" "The Clash or even Taylor Momsen's band. The Pretty Reckless." I said and chuckled.

"She likes rock. Interesting." He said. "And you're singing." I told him and he brought up a slight smile. "Wow. What's your favorite song of mine then?" He asked. "I Wanna Dance With You or Chills." I told him. "I kind of have a mixed music taste." "I can see that." He said.

"Breaks over. Uh, what goals would you like to set?" He asked. "Expanding my skill set to be an actress. Like improving the things in my body are most important like movement and my voice. I used to have this stutter and I had to go to speech therapy. Sometimes it's hard for me to say like these fancy ass words but I try and practice in my free time." I explained. "Wow." "You're actually a really good listener." I said and giggled. "I'm a mentor. It's what I do." He said and chuckled. **Mentor. Right. Like I'm his mentee who already has such strong feelings.**

"Did you grow up here?" He asked. "Oh, no. I'm from San Diego." I said. "Did you like it there?" "Not really." I said and chuckled. "I always told everyone my dream job and they kind of... criticized me for it saying I'd never get it or I wasn't pretty enough." "Well, they're wrong. I think you're pretty." Did Skylar Astin just call me pretty? AHH!! "You do?" "Yeah." He said and smiled.
