Unexpected Visits: Chapter 3

Skylar was still staying over. Kayla was taking a shower and I heard a knock. It was odd because I don't know anyone else here. I looked at Skylar and headed to the door. "Hey, Lex." My brother Liam was here. I kind of stopped talking to him. "Liam, what are you doing here?" I asked. "What? I can't come visit my little sister?" He asked. "I don't have any money." I told him. He's had a past involving drugs and alcohol. He was in jail for awhile. "Nice place you got here. Mom and Dad are paying for it?" He asked. I used to basically take care of him every time he got sober because Mom and Dad were too angry at him to ever care.

"Huh. I saw on the news that you guys were a thing but I had to see it for myself." He said seeing Skylar. "Skylar, this is my older brother Liam." "Hi." He said kind of awkwardly. "Liam, you better be sober or else you can see yourself out." I told him. "You used to care so much if I was sober or not and now you don't even care." "Because you told me not to." I said.

"I'm sober, sis. I just missed you." He said then hugged me. "What are you even doing in New York?" "I'm staying with a friend." He added. "A halfway house? Mom said you went to the big house." "I did but I'm not living at a halfway house. My friend offered me a place to crash because I knew Mom and Dad weren't gonna let me back in if I went back home." He added. Kayla came out. "Liam?" "Hey, Kayla." He said. "Heard you went to the big house." "I'm out now." Liam added. "I have school." I told him. "Fine. I'll see you tomorrow." "Don't do anything I wouldn't do." I told him before closing the door.

"Brother, huh?" Skylar asked. "Yep. Before he went to jail, we got into a fight because he relapsed and I tried helping him but in his words: Fuck off, I don't need your help, skank." I told him. "Wow." "Yeah. I love Liam but nothing's been the same since he got into that." I said.

We planned a little house warming dinner a while back. "You gonna invite him to dinner tonight?" He asked. I shrugged my shoulders.

I got everything ready, we invited some people from the academy too. "So, we have the people from crew , Kayla, my second best friend Mason. He's coming in and should be here soon." I told Skylar. "Sounds good." He said and kissed me. I grabbed the picture from my room of me, Kayla and Mason when we were kids.

"Look. This is like the first day we all met. We were already so close and we've been friends ever since." I told him. "That's a nice picture." "Mason's mom took it. This picture is literally 10 years old." I said. "Oh God. That picture." Kayla said coming out. "That feels like yesterday." She said. "It does." I added and I went to put it back.

I heard the scene from Bring It On when Cliff makes a song for Torrence. "L! Our scene!" "Ah! Cliff Pantone, the man you are!" I exclaimed and ran to the room.

I heard my buzzer. "Yeah." "Open up, bitch." I heard Mason and I squealed. "Mason! Mason's here!" I exclaimed and I let him in. I gave him the biggest hug. "Oh, it's so good to see you." I said. "Mason!" Kayla said and hugged him too. "Hey, Skylar." Skylar said introducing himself. "Lexi's boyfriend. Hi, Mason Kennedy." He said and they shook hands.

Everyone started getting here and we started eating. Skylar let someone in and everyone was already here. "Hey, sis." Liam said. I didn't wanna cause a scene. "Liam..sit down." I said. "Hey, Liam." Mason said. "Mason Kennedy, how you doing? Haven't seen you in a long time." Liam said and they hugged. "Al, where's your bathroom?" Liam whispered. "Use mine in my room. The room next to the balcony." I said.

Liam was gone awhile and I got up to check on him. "I'll be back." I told Skylar. "Hey, Liam-- What the fuck?" I asked seeing him with a pipe in his hand. He hid it but he was coughing. "Get out!" I yelled and threw a shampoo bottle at him. "What's going on?" Skylar asked as he, Kayla and Mason walked in. Kayla saw Liam and closed the door. "Did you invite him?" I asked Skylar. "Maybe." He said. "Liam, get the fuck out!" I yelled and hit his head. He finally got out and I slapped him. "Don't fucking come back, do you hear me? Don't fucking call, don't fucking text me at all. I don't want anything to do with you!" I told him as I kicked him. "Lexi, that's enough." Skylar said.

"I'll leave." Liam said. "Yeah, you should, Liam. Don't make me do anything I don't wanna do." Mason told him. "Fuck you, fag." Liam told Mason and he punched him. "Get out of here." He told Liam and he started to walk away. I went back inside. "Dinner's done guys. Thanks for coming." I told everyone and closing my bedroom door and crying by my bed.

Skylar's POV

After everyone left, Lexi locked herself in the room. "It's always good to let her be by herself for awhile and just process. Trust me, I've learned the hard way." Mason told me. "Alright. I'll start cleaning up." I said. "I shouldn't have invited him. Especially what after Lexi told me. I now see the vulnerability in their relationship." I said. "They were so close before Liam started doing drugs. Lexi always tried to help him because their parents barely cared and he pushed her away and she got really upset. I don't know if I should be telling you this but Lexi's tried to do something to herself.." Kayla pointed out. "What?" "What Liam said to her, got to her head and she tried off herself and I felt so useless trying to help her. She wouldn't get out of bed or go to school. She's never really had the same relationship with Liam since." She added.
I sighed. "I had no idea." "Lexi's good at hiding her feelings and emotions. We've learned alot in the past 10 years." Mason added.

Lexi's POV

I was still in the room and I heard knocking. "Can I come in?" Skylar asked on the other side of the door. "Yeah." I said quietly. "I'm sorry for inviting Liam. Truly." He said. "It's not your fault. He's the one who came here in the first place. I thought he was sober and now my bathroom smells like crack." I said and we both chuckled. "Kayla and Mason told me about, uh, what happened a little bit after you and Liam had that fight. Why didn't you say anything?" He asked. "I don't know. I thought that if I didn't say it, it wouldn't be true even though it is. It's something I don't like reminding myself about." I explained.

"Well, you know you can talk to me about anything. I'm always here." He said. I rested my head on his shoulder. He kissed my head and hugged me.

We ended the evening with movies and ice cream.
