It's been about a month since we found out I was pregnant. Skylar was busy with work and Kayla went to visit her parents because she insisted she'd move in to help me with the baby once they're born. Mason and I were looking for a place to get food. "What about a sushi place?" He asked. "Hello. Me: pregnant. I checked, most restaurants have salmon and I can't eat salmon." I said.
He exhaled and stopped. "What are you looking at?" I asked and we looked up at a restaurant. "Ves-elka?" I tried pronouncing. "Come on." He said and we went inside. I saw grilled cheese on the menu. "I know we just walked in but I love this restaurant. They have grilled cheese." I said and we went to sit down. A waiter came up. "Hi, welcome to Veselka. What can I get for you today?" He asked and I saw Mason slightly smiling at him. "I'll have the grilled cheese and...the Madame Alexander?" I suggested. "Of course. What about you?" He asked Mason but he was so struck by him.
"Mase." "Oh. Same as her." He said. "Drink of choice?" He asked. "The raspberry lemonade." "Just a coffee." Mason said. "I'll be back." He said then leaving. "You like the waiter, don't you?" I asked. "What? Lex, what are you talking about?" "I saw the way you were looking at him. You know that I know you're gay and I totally support you." "He is kind of attractive." He said and we chuckled.
We got our food and we took bites at the same time. "This is amazing!" We said at the same time and laughed. I saw Liam at the takeout side. "Hey, Lex." "Hey, Liam." I said. "How's the food?" He asked. "It's actually pretty amazing. You know, while you're here, I think I should tell you something." I said. "What is it?" "Sit." I told him. "So, like last month, right after our yearly family squabbles, I found out that I'm pregnant." I said and he chuckled. "Really?" "Yeah. You're gonna be an uncle, big brother." I said and he smiled at me. "That's amazing, sis. I'm really happy for you." He said we hugged.
"Mom and Dad know?" He asked. "Yeah. They actually took it pretty well." "No shit?" "No shit." I said laughing. "Lex, I'm sorry for being a complete prick lately." He said. I did miss my brother. "I forgive you. I'm sorry too." I told him. I cleared my throat and tilted my head to Mason. He chuckled. "Mason, I'm sorry for calling you a fag." "It's alright." Mason said.
"Where's Skylar? I have some beating to do." He said jokingly. "He's working." "Ah."
"I missed you, you know that?" I asked him. "I know. I missed you too." He said and I smiled. "Looks like my food is ready. I'll see you guys." He said then leaving. "Liam and Alexandria bonding. Haven't seen that in 6 years." Mason said and I chuckled. "Shut the fuck up and eat your food." I told him and he chuckled too.As we were starting to leave..."Isn't she with Skylar?" "I heard she used to do drugs." "She can't do drugs. She's pregnant." "Amateur." I heard people say and I just stopped. "Don't listen to them. Let's go." Mason said but he knows how I am when I hear people talking about me. I tend to overthink. "I'll stop this." "Mason--" "Hey. Hi, yeah, uh, me and my friend heard you talking about her and just so you know, you don't know her. Just because you're talking shit about her doesn't mean you know anything about her. Yes, she's with Skylar. Yes, she's pregnant but she doesn't do drugs. If I hear you say anything else about my best friend again, you won't hear the end of it. Have a good day and try not to talk about other people." He said then coming back to me. "Thanks." "Yeah. No problem."
I saw Kirsten. "There's Kirsten Dunst." I told Mason excitedly. "Hi, Alexandria." She said. She knows my name???? "H-hi, Kirsten." I said. "Uh, what are you doing in the east village?" I asked. "I came to check out this restaurant. I heard the food is really good." "Oh, it is. We just finished eating here. You have got to try Madame Alexander. It's literally to die for. Okay, I'll shut up now." I said. She chuckled. "It's okay. You have the right to talk." "Yeah, no, I know. It's just that I have this thing where my foot is in my mouth and I can just never stop talking." I told her. "It's fine, really. I'll see you tomorrow." She said. Mason cleared his throat. "Oh! This is Mason Kennedy. We're both big fans of Bring It On." I told her and I realized what that sounded like. "What the fuck?" I mumbled. "It's nice to meet you and I'm really flattered." She said. "Bye." "See you." She said and we left. "I'm so fucking stupid." I said and he laughed.
As we were walking my phone was blowing up. "Woah. You're famous now?" Mason asked. "I will be." I told him and opened my phone to see a bunch of likes and comments off of my song. It was already 2k. "Holy shit." "What?" "I posted this song on Instagram and it's getting a million likes." "Literally?" He asked. "Not literally." I told him. "Oh."
We got home and seen Skylar waiting. "Hey." "Hey. Where'd you guys go?" He asked. "Veselka. It's my new favorite restaurant." I told him and he chuckled. "Mason met someone he likes. Well, he was a waiter and we don't know his name." I said and laughed. "Oh. That's cool. I bet Mason knows his name." He said and rose his eyebrows. Mason chuckled. "Evander." I gasped. "You read his name tag?" I asked excitedly. "It caught my eye." He said and I snickered. "Bullshit."
"We saw Kirsten too." I told Skylar. "Huh. Did you mention your obsession with Bring It On?" He asked. "Yeah. It was embarrassing." I said and he laughed.
I started thinking about what those people said at Veselka and it got to my head. "You okay?" Skylar asked as I was quiet. "Bye." Mason said then going in the room. "Lex." "Hmm? Oh, yeah, I'm fine." I told him. "No you aren't. What is it?" He asked. "Uh, well, there was these group of girls who were, uh, talking about me. It just got to my head." I told him."Mason told them off though but I'm an overthinker so it's like, no matter who defends me, it still bugs me and I don't just wanna be Skylar Astin's pregnant girlfriend or a wannabe actress. And the other day, this girl, she thought that I was like, what's the word? Uh...fat, not because I'm pregnant because it's not even noticeable and I..I don't know. All my life, my parents were always nagging me about my weight or my appearance and it was only me and Liam who had eachother at the time..and..I don't know." I explained.
"Well, you know, they're just bothered because you are beautiful. You're perfect just the way you are...Fat or not." He said jokingly and I snickered. "Oh, Liam finally apologized for last month and I just hope he means it." I said. "Maybe he does. We're not mind readers. But we will see it." He said and I nodded.
