They made their way back to the highway, Ellie trailed behind them keeping some distance as they hopped over the rails and made their way back to the group.
"You didn't find her?" A woman with short gray hair asked with a worried and saddened expression etched upon her face.
"Her trail went cold, we'll pick it up again at first light." Rick told the woman, the group walking over and looked at the girl that stood behind the two men.
"Who the hell is that?" One of the men questioned looking at the girl who stood behind Daryl. "That's Ellie, found her in the woods, she's gonna help us look for Sophia." Rick explained.
"How do we know we can trust her?" The man questioned, he had short brown hair and was wearing a button up tan colored shirt.
"If she was a threat she would've tried something with me and Daryl but she didn't. She saw Sophia, tried helping her but she ran off again." Rick explained to the man named Shane.
"You saw her? You saw my baby?" The woman with gray hair questioned walking up to Ellie, Ellie backed away slightly, the back of her thighs hitting the rail and nodded at the older woman.
"Was she okay? Why didn't you bring her back?" The woman questioned Ellie making her lean backwards to get away from her, "Come on Carol, leave her alone, she knows as much as us." Daryl told Carol as he grabbed her shoulders pulling her away from the girl.
Carol sat on the rail as the brown haired woman set down beside her and rubbed her back for comfort, "How could you just leave her out there to begin with?" Carol looked at Rick.
"There were two walkers on us." Rick spoke to Carol, Ellie was getting overwhelmed with everything and snuck away to a car and sat on the hood as she put her earbuds back in.

Most of the group had planned to go out and search for Sophia, Ellie didn't have much of a choice since Rick dragged her along to keep an eye on her.
They came across a church and the group walking inside, weapons aimed as the dead stood up from where they sat on the bench's.
Rick, Daryl, and Shane both went in and killed the few walkers that were in the church as the group huddled at the entrance.
"Yo J.C. Got any requests?" Daryl grumbled looking at the statue of Jesus behind the podium in the front of the church.
Suddenly the bells of the church rang and they rushed outside, Daryl looked up to the speakers that emitted the noise as Glenn turned it off.
"Yall gonna follow the creek bed back. Okay? Daryl you're in charge." Shane spoke as he walked up to the group as Ellie leaned against the tree, one of her earbuds in as the other dangled in front of her chest.
"Me and Rick, we're just gonna hang back, search the area again." Shane said as he looked at the group.
"You're splittin' us up? You sure?" Daryl questioned looking at the two officers who stood in front of the group.
"I want to stay too." Carl spoke up as he stepped forward looking at his father, "I'm her friend." Rick and Shane looked at each other for a moment contemplating.
"Just be careful, okay?" Lori, carls mother told her son as Carl nodded at his mother and walked over to Rick and Shane.
"Ellie, you're coming too." Rick nodded at her to go with them, Ellie glanced up from the grass and furrowed her brows before walking over to the men.

The walk through the woods was quiet, the only sound being the branches snapping under their boots and the crickets chirping.
Ellie stayed back beside Carl as they stopped at a clearing, a buck standing in the middle of the forest.
Carl inched forwards towards the deer as Rick nudged Ellie's shoulder with a smile seeing the ghost of one on her lips at seeing the deer and nudged her to go forwards with Carl.
She walked behind Carl slowly and quietly as Carl reached his hand out to pet it, a faint smile was on Ellie's lips as she stood a foot behind the young boy.
Out of nowhere a gunshot rang and pierced Carl through the stomach and went straight through into Ellie's.
They both fell to the floor as Rick yelled.
