Ellie's father took her to shooting ranges when she was about carls age, shot her first buck when she was 15 and even learned out to survive in the woods.
Her father was a man of many mysteries, always keeping guns in the house locked away in the gun safe, disappeared in the middle of the night and came back with bloody knuckles.
She never really questioned him about it since she was so young yet she was always worried since he had a temper towards her mother.
She'd sit at the top of the stairs as she listened to their arguments, her mother crying and the next morning she'd have a small bruise on her.
So when Rick and Shane decided to teach the group how to shoot a gun Ellie was a star student. She hit every glass bottle perfectly, never missed a shot.
She didn't like guns, especially with being partially dead she never had to use them.
But she figured if it came to it she'd need all the help she can get. "Good job Ellie!" Rick grinned at the younger girl patting her shoulder as she lowered the gun and turned the safety on.
She smiled at him at the praise, something she never received from her father.

She sat beside Daryl on a chair next to the fire as she ate the food that Carol had made for the group, Carol smiled at her as she scooped some eggs onto her plate.
She scooped some eggs onto the spoon and ate it, Glenn stood from his seat and walked towards the middle of where everyone was sitting and eating.
"Uh- guys." Glenn paused as everyone looked towards him, Ellie stopped eating and looked up at the Asian man.
"So..the barns full of walkers." He blurted out, Ellie dropped her spoon onto her plate as she glanced around before glancing at Daryl who sat up straighter.

The group had discussed on what to do about the barn full of walkers, more like argued about it. Mainly Shane disagreeing with everything Rick said about letting Hershel and his people do their own thing.Ellie sat on the porch beside Maggie and Glenn, listening to them flirt almost made her throw up. T-dog and Andrea walked towards them, "Do you know what's going on?" T-dog questioned looking at Glenn as he walked towards them.
"Where is everybody?" Andrea looked around noticing half the group was gone, "You haven't seen Rick?" Glenn responded.
"He went off with Hershel, we were supposed to leave a couple of hours ago." Andrea replied as Daryl now walked up making Ellie stand from her seat on the porch.
"Yeah you were, what the hell?" Daryl spoke as Carol trailed behind him, "Rick told us he was going out." Carol replied as she stood next to Daryl.
"Damn it. Isn't anybody taking this seriously? We got us a damn trail." Daryl turned around and swung his arm towards the woods.
"Oh, here we go." Shane came walking up to the group carrying the bag of guns and a shot gun in his hand. "What's all this?" Daryl questioned pointing at the guns.
"You with me man?" Shane spoke giving the shotgun to Daryl as he walked towards where everyone else was by the porch of the farmhouse.
"Time to grow up." Shane walked towards Ellie, a glare on his face as he tossed a handgun at her which she caught. "Look, it was one thing sitting around here picking daisies when we thought this place was supposed to be safe."
"But we know it ain't." Shane walked towards Glenn and offered him a shotgun, Ellie stuffed the handgun he gave her in the back waistband of her jeans, not wanting to use it.
Ellie looked at Daryl who held the shotgun, resting it on his shoulder. His eyes caught hers and she shook her head at him, a look of disappointment in her eyes.
Shane knelt down in front of Carl holding out a handgun for the young boy, Ellie scoffed and shook her head at Shane's crazy antics.
"You got a problem?" Shane looked up at the girl that was standing beside Carl, "Yeah, what the hell are you doing Shane?" She questioned tilting her head with a glare.
"I'm protecting my group from what's in there." He stood up and moved closer to her pointing at the barn.
"Oh shit." T-dog interrupted causing the attention to the distance where Rick, Hershel, and jimmy were leading the dead towards the barn.
"What is that? Huh? What is that?" Shane muttered as the group ran towards them and stopped in front of the barn.
"What the hell you doing?" Shane yelled as he ran in front them and walked backwards as they still tried to lead them towards the barn.
Ellie pulled her gun out and switched the safety of just in case anything went wrong, Hershel thought the dead were just sick people. He thought they were people that just needed help.
They weren't, they killed. They didn't think, they just ate anything in their way. Ellie knew that, she watched it happen. She knew what they were doing was wrong but Hershel and his people didn't get it.
Shane pulled out his gun and pointed at the dead one Hershel was leading, "Could a living breathing person walk away from this?" He shot the dead in its stomach but it's still moved.
"That's three rounds to the chest. Could someone who's alive, could they just take that?!" Shane yelled as he raised his gun again and shot it in the heart.
"That's its heart, it's lungs! So whys it still coming?!" He fired again before Rick yelled, "Shane that's enough!" Rick yelled looking at Shane.
He raised his gun and walked forwards, "yeah, you're right, man. That is enough." Another shot, straight through the dead's brain. It fell to the floor as Hershel slowly dropped to his knees.
"Enough risking our lives for a little girl who's gone!" Shane yelled as he paced back and forth, Ellie clenched her fist with her free hand and tightened her grip on the handle of her gun.
"Enough living next to a barn full of things that are trying to kill us! Enough!" Shane yelled.
Ellie's ears rang as Shane kept on yelling, she wanted to do something but she was frozen in her spot, a hardened glare set on the man.
Shane took the piece of wood that blocked the barns doors and threw it, banging on the doors before undoing the chains and the dead walked out.
Ellie cursed under her breath as she walked forwards and pointed her gun at them as they started stumbling from the barn.
Gunfire, all she could hear was gunfire in her ears. Each shot killing one of the dead till they were all gone, they hit the floor and she lowered her gun.
Ellie let out a small gasp as she stepped backwards slightly, Sophia. She walked out of the barn, a bite mark on her shoulder. Her low growls and groans.
No one dared to shoot, "Sophia! Sophia!" Carol ran forwards before Daryl stopped her as she fell to the ground in tears looking at her daughter.
Ellie turned away as Rick pulled out his gun and shot the young girl.
