The Giggle

Last time, The Doctor, Donna and The Three Stooges went to the edge of the universe and encountered evil copies of themselves before escaping and reunited with Donna's grandfather, who tells them that the world might be coming to an end. Now, the Doctor and his companions tried to ask the people why they were fighting, only to get 'noun of your business!' or 'I have the right to do what I want!' for answers. That was when some UNIT soldiers came and escort the Doctor and the others to UNIT HQ, where they meet Kate Lethbridge-Stewart (played by Jemma Redgrave), the woman who is in charge of UNIT. Doctor: "Kate Lethbridge-Stewart!, I see you're still sane." Kate: "Doctor... I fought them all... Daleks... Cybermen... and all sorts of alien threats... but how do we fight the human race?" Moe: "With a really big gun?" Kate: "Wait... are those... The Three Stooges?" Doctor: "Well... not the original Stooges... most likely their descendents... but never mind that... can you tell us what's going on?" Kate: "Right... follow me..." said Kate, before she leads the Doctor and his current companions to the inside, where a middle aged woman, named Melanie Bush (played by Bonnie Langford) greets them and she and the Doctor were happy to see each other. Doctor: "Oh this is the best news!, Melanie!, hello!" Mel: "Hey Doctor... it's been a while." Moe: "You two know each other?" Mel: "Of course, I used to travel with the Doctor, a long time ago." Donna: "So I wasn't the first red head?" Mel: "Nope... that was me, it's a pleasure to meet you all." Moe: "Hello, I'm Moe." Larry: "I'm Larry." Curly: "And I'm Curly." Mel: "Wow... just like the original Three Stooges." Donna: "Oh my gosh!" Doctor: "What's wrong?" Donna: "Rose... and my mom and husband!, are they..." Wilfred: "They're fine, UNIT actually brought them here when the world went mad... I only went to Camden Market to see if you would come back." Doctor: "Speaking of the world going mad... what caused this?" Kate: "It started two days ago... when every screen in the world show this..." said Kate, before the image shows what looked like a puppet laughing in a musical arpeggio tone, the tone that The Three Stooges and Donna found a little creepy. Moe: "That laugh... it's giving me the creeps..." Curly: "And it's making everyone on the planet mad?, then why is everyone here okay?" Doctor: "I don't know about everyone else... but I think traveling in the TARDIS has made you immune..." Larry: "Maybe because they have something to keep them calm?" Kate: "You guessed it... thanks to our scientists, we made a device to keep us from going mad by the puppet's laughter, whatever that puppet might be..." said Kate, before the Doctor takes a closer look at the puppet on the screen. Doctor: "Wait... that puppet... that's Stooky Bill... the puppet that was used by John Logie Baird, the inventor of Television himself..." Donna: "Are you saying the inventor of television is behind this?" Doctor: "No... this is someone else's doing... someone pretty powerful to do this... playing with us... like toys... it can't be... come on, we need to to find the source of this... and to best place and time is Soho in the year of 1925..." said the Doctor, before he and his companions went back into the TARDIS, which was moved to UNIT HQ by some soldiers and then traveled back to Soho in the year of 1925. once they got out, the Doctor and his companions begin searching for anything out of the ordinary. Donna: "Doctor... you never mentioned that you had another companion that was a red head." Doctor: "I was busy, and also you never asked about who traveled with me before." Curly: "He has a point..." Larry: "Hey... maybe that Toy Emporium might be a good start." Doctor: "You're right... for if you want a puppet on television... you would need to get the puppet first... and this place would be a good start." said the Doctor, before he and his companions went into the emporium, where they see the shop owner (played by Neil Patrick Harris) started to juggle some balls. Shop owner: "Greetings ya, have you come to play a game?" Moe: "Actually we're here to talk about Stooky Bill... was the puppet here?" Shop owner: "Indeed he was here... I sold him to John Logie Baird himself... he'll surely make history... like the massive chaos in 2023." Donna: "How do you know that?" Shop Owner: "I know a lot more than that... Donna Noble..." Donna: "Okay... this is getting spooky... who exactly are you?" Shop owner: "Oh... I've been called many things in my realm... but you can call me... The Toymaker." said the Toymaker, which made the Doctor gasp in shock. Doctor: "You can't be..." Toymaker: "I can be... are you at least a little happy... to see me again after so many years?" Doctor: "Not really... how did you get into this reality?" Toymaker: "Why you and your Stooges let me in of course... with the salt." said the Toymaker, which made the Doctor and the others have a flashback on what happened at the Edge of the Universe, which made the Stooges gulped in a nervous way. Toymaker: "But never mind that, you probably not know this, but the first game was the ball, while the second game was.., hide and seek!" said the Toymaker, before he begins to laugh in an arpeggio tone, and runs off to a hallway that the Doctor and his companions went into, before opening a door and found another hallway. Donna: "The shop's bigger on the inside... don't tell me that he's got his own TARDIS..." Doctor: "No, this is something Toymaker made with his reality bending power." Donna: "But how?, who is he?, and how do you know him?" Doctor: "... When I was young... back in the days of my first life... I led the TARDIS into another reality... only that reality belonged to the Toymaker, who has the power to bend reality in his own will and uses people like us as toys..." Donna: "But you managed to escape, right?" Doctor: "Yeah... I beaten him in his own game, but now he's back and in this reality..." Moe: "And it's because of us... the thing we did with the salt at the Edge of the Universe... I mean he said it himself... and now he's driving the human race mad with a puppet..." Donna: "Stop blaming yourself, it won't help anyone." Larry: "She's right... we need to focus on stopping that bad Toymaker." Curly: "Yeah, I mean the Doc beaten him before, and he can beat him again." Doctor: "But there's always a chance we could lose..." Donna: "Then... we'll just have to make sure not to lose..." said Donna, before she and the others went to a room where the Toymaker was waiting, who begins some sort of puppet show. Toymaker: "This is a show for you Donna Noble... a show about what the Doctor lost since you lift him... [bringing down a puppet with red hair] first off was a girl named Amy Pond, and the Doctor loved her... traveled through time and space... but then she was touched by a Weeping Angel and she died!" Doctor: "She died of old age..." Toymaker: "Well that's alright then... [bringing down another puppet] then he met a girl named Clara, who was killed by a bird." Doctor: "But she still lives with her last second in life." Toymaker: "Well that's alright then... [bringing down another puppet] then he met another girl named Bill... who was killed by the Cybermen!" Doctor: "But her subconscious survived." Toymaker: "Well that's alright then!... [bringing down planet based puppets] and then there was the Flux, which was killing everything..." Donna: "Is all of this true?" asked Donna, before the Toymaker challenges the Doctor to a card game, which he accepts. Toymaker: "Now then... are you ready for the game?" Doctor: "Yes..." Donna: "You better not cheat." Toymaker: "Oh no, the shame of it." Doctor: "That's the one thing he'll never do, the only rules he follows are the rules of the games, they bind his entire existence... so we could either win or lose just like any other player." said the Doctor, before he and the Toymaker play the game of cards, and in the end, the Toymaker wins. Toymaker: "Ha... I win." Doctor: "This round anyway... for if I recall, I beat you in a game years ago... which means it's a tie... and you know what that means..." Toymaker: "Best two out of three... then let's make it... 2023." said the Toymaker, before he snaps his fingers and then he, the time travelers and the TARDIS were back in UNIT HQ, much to everyone's surprise. Curly: "Wow... that was quick..." Kate: "Doctor... who is that?" Doctor: "The Toymaker... an old enemy... and a very powerful one too." Toymaker: "Alright then... let's see how you can handle... this." said the Toymaker, before he snaps his fingers again and then some sort of laser cannon appeared, and the Toymaker uses it to shoot the Doctor, who fell to his knees and was now dying. Mel: "Doctor!" Donna: "No!" Moe: "What did you do that for?!" Toymaker: "I played one game with one Doctor, I played the second game with this Doctor, so I shall play the third game with the next Doctor." said the Toymaker, before the Doctor's face and hands started to glow, as a sign that he was about to regenerate. Donna: "He's not dying alone... I'll be with him..." Mel: "So am I..." Moe: "Me too..." Larry: "Me three..." Curly: "Me too I guess..." Doctor: "I'm not really dying..." Donna: "I know but..." Mel: "You're going to be someone else... it doesn't matter who... cause every single one of you... is fantastic..." Moe: "Doc..." Larry: "Please don't change too much..." Curly: "You're amazing just the way you are..." Doctor: "I know... but it's time... well... here we go again... Allons-y..." said the Doctor, getting ready to regenerate... only to see that not only his face and hands stopped glowing, his face didn't change either, not to mention he was feeling something very different. Curly: "Hey... you didn't change..." Larry: "You're right Curly... he's still the same..." Moe: "What's going on?" Doctor: "Um... Donna... could you... pull?" Donna: "Could I... what?" Doctor: "And you Mel... pull too... each side... I don't know... feels different this time..." Moe: "You heard the doc, pull!" ordered Moe, before Donna and Mel pulls the Doctor's arms, and then suddenly, the Time Lord split into two different people, one was the fourteenth Doctor, and the other was the fifteenth Doctor (played by Ncuti Gatwa). Fourteenth Doctor: "What?" Donna: "What?" Toymaker: "What?!" Curly: "What happened?" Larry: "I don't know... but look, the Doctor's okay!... I think..." Fourteenth Doctor: "You're me..." Fifteenth Doctor: "No I'm me... I think I'm really me... ha, ho, ho!, I am completely me!" Kate: "Um... sorry to interrupt but... how did that happen?" Fifteenth Doctor: "Bi-generation... I have Bi-generated... of course that's supposed to be a myth but... no complaints here... so Mel... what do you think?" Mel: "I think you look very handsome." Fourteenth Doctor: "Um... I'm still handsome." Donna: "Well... this is a surprise..." Toymaker: "Indeed, this could mean I could have an endless line of Doctors to kill, meaning the game will never..." Fourteenth and Fifteenth Doctor: "I challenge you to a game." Toymaker: "But... there's two of you..." Fourteenth Doctor: "We're both the same person, so we still count as one." Fifteenth Doctor: "And we challenge you to a game of catching the ball... and according to the rules, you can't say no." Toymaker: "Fine... I accept your challenge... but don't think it'll be easy just because it's two against one now..." Fourteenth Doctor: "It's never been easy..." Toymaker: "Indeed... now then... let's play." said the Toymaker, before he, and the two Doctors begin to play the game, and in the end, the Toymaker lost, while the two Doctors won, much to the joy of their companions. Moe: "Yes!" Larry: "They won!" Curly: "Way to go, Doc!" Mel: "Which one?" Curly: "Both!" Donna: "I can agree with him on that one." Fourteenth Doctor: "It's over Toymaker... you lost... and my prize is to banish you from existence... forever." said the Fourteenth Doctor, before the Toymaker begins to become flat as his existence was fading away. Toymaker: "Beware Doctors... for my legions are coming... especially the one who waits..." said the Toymaker, before he turns into a folded up piece of paper and Kate locks it up inside a box. Some time later, the two Doctors were inside the TARDIS, along with Donna and The Three Stooges, talking about the controls on the new console. Fourteenth Doctor: "This here is the switch that starts her up... I think... I mean this is a brand new console and interior so... um... how is this gonna work... you and me?" Fifteenth Doctor: "Well I don't know about me... but I think it's time you should stop with the traveling... for ever since the first Doctor faced the Toymaker... he never stopped... you haven't stopped... we never stopped... we faced many things... the gods of Ragnarok... the Time War... the Flux... and we never got the chance to relax... or get to spend time with the people we loved... I mean Sarah Jane... she's gone now..." Fourteenth Doctor: "I know... and I loved her..." Fifteenth Doctor: "I loved her... and Rose Tyler... but one of us has to keep moving... and that has to be me... as I'm the new Doctor... but you... I think it's time you retire." Donna: "He's right... maybe that's why you got your face back... you're emotionally exhausted and need to rest... to be with me and my family... that's why you came back to my life..." Doctor: "You mean... he flies off while I stay with you?... I would love that... but I could never let the TARDIS go... it would hurt..." Fifteenth Doctor: "Yeah but... Bi-generation has never happened before... but what if... oh... what if the Toymaker's rule of play still apply?, I mean there's two of us... so if you can get a prize... then maybe so can I." said the Fifteenth Doctor, before opens a piece of the floor and pulls out what looked like a mallet, before exiting the TARDIS, followed by the Fourteenth Doctor and Donna. Fourteenth Doctor: "What are you doing?" Fifteenth Doctor: "Well you got your prize of banishing the Toymaker... well here is mine!" said the Fifteenth Doctor, before he uses the Mallet on the TARDIS, which causes it to somehow creates a second TARDIS, much to the surprise of the other people around him. Donna: "That... was... completely... nuts!" Fourteenth Doctor: "Oh...okay that works I guess..." Fifteenth Doctor: "Yup, if there could be two Doctors in the universe... then there should be two TARDIS' too... anyway... I better get going... for there's a whole new universe for me to see... so take care old man." Fourteenth: "What?, you're the old man!" Donna: "He's right, you came after him so you're the older one." Fifteenth Doctor: "Okay... fair enough... so take care kid... bye." said the Fifteenth Doctor, before he goes into his own TARDIS, which fades away from the scene without a trace. Kate: "Say... where are Moe, Larry and Curly?" Donna: "Inside the TARDIS." Kate: "Which one?" Doctor: "Oh no... you don't think..." Doctor: "They somehow ended up in the other TARDIS?" Doctor: "I believe so... oh well... at least the other me won't be alone... probably for the best..." Donna: "I'm gonna miss them..." Doctor: "Me too... but I'm sure we'll see them again... one day... or sooner." said the Doctor with a smile. Later, the Fourteenth Doctor and Donna were having lunch together with the Noble family outside, and they were having a lot of fun. Rose: "When can I get a chance to travel in the TARDIS?, I mean mum got to go." Donna: "Not without supervision, not to mention you don't have experience on the dangers out there... and besides, the Doctor has retired from all that traveling." Doctor: "Yeah... but I do tend to visit another planet or two once in a while..." Wilfred: "And I got to see one of them too... it was a dream come true." Rose: "What?, you let great grandpa to go but not me?" Donna: "He's more experienced than you." Rose: "But he's on a wheelchair!" Wilfred: "Yeah, maybe we could take you on a little trip... as long as it's safe." Rose: "Whatever..." said Rose, while the Doctor couldn't help but smile, which Donna seemed to notice. Donna: "Hey... do you ever miss it... being out there?" Doctor: "Well... in all the years of traveling... I always wondered where I was getting to... and now I know the answer... this... and I've never been so happy in all of my life..." said the Doctor, which made Donna smiled while the Doctor smiled too. Meanwhile, the Fifteenth Doctor was still flying the TARDIS, his own TARDIS of course, when he noticed The Three Stooges at last. Doctor: "What are you doing here?" Moe: "What do you mean?, we've been here the whole time." Doctor: "Oh... you must have been moved to the New TARDIS when the split happened..." Larry: "New TARDIS?" Doctor: "It's a long story..." Curly: "Hey what's this button do?" Doctor: "Don't touch that!" cried out the Doctor, but it was too late as Curly pressed a button on the control console, and then the TARDIS shakes up like crazy, and Moe was sent flying towards the doors, which opened up and the Stooge leader was falling to the river front area of London, before the TARDIS fades away. Of course the Doctor and the other two Stooges managed to reunite with Moe, who was stranded for a few months in the past of the year 2004, much to his annoyance and slaps not only Larry and Curly, but the Doctor too out of frustration. Moe: "What's the idea of dumping me in the past like that?!" Doctor: "Don't blame me, Curly was the one who pushed that button!" Curly: "I'm sorry!, I didn't think it would do that!" Moe: "Ugh... great... well anyway... what now?" Doctor: "Well... since you're here now... ya mind traveling with me for a little while?" Curly: "Should we?" Larry: "Well he's not the Doctor we know..." Moe: "What are you talking about?, he is... just with a different face... I think..." Doctor: "That's right... so do you wanna see the universe with me?" Moe: "Well... as long as we get enough time to save the orphanage back home... I wouldn't mind seeing another planet or two." Larry: "Me too, for wherever Moe goes, I go too." Curly: "Me too, for I can't go anywhere without my fellas." Doctor: "Then welcome aboard." said the Fifteenth Doctor, before he and the Stooges start off the TARDIS to begin their new adventure though time and space.
