Charlie's POV
I can feel excitement coming from Cameron, as I work with Papa on getting the design finalized for our new house. It's been a week since he started working at the bakery with Shay. I'm still really angry at Papa and Dad. I don't understand why they couldn't tell me. I understand Cam not telling me, but them?
"Charlie, what do you think about this piece here?" Papa asks, pointing to a half wall that I had suggested.
"I like it." I state simply. I take a breath and look at him. "Papa, I was thinking about me and Cam staying in the Pack House until our house is done."
"Oh." He looks at me with surprise. "Okay."
"I just..." I take a deep breath, playing with my fingers. "I need time to really think about everything and really deal with it. I'm just feeling really angry, and I want space to deal with that."
"I understand Charlie." Papa says sadly. "And I want you to have the space you need to process that."
"Thanks, Papa." I smile softly at him. Even if I'm angry with him and Dad, they're still my parents and I love them.
"Of course." He gives me a sad smile. "I'll let Dad know, and we can get a room set up for you."
"Okay." I say softly. I stay quiet for a moment, drawing a vase in a corner. "I think after the weekend, I want to get started on Ashton and Teddy's house." I say after a moment.
"Sounds like a good idea." Papa says easily. "I think we're pretty much done with yours. Just need to get the construction done."
"Okay." I say, nodding. "I think I'm done for today." I put the pen down and stand up, stretching my arms above my head.
"Alright, Pup." He says, shuffling the paperwork on his desk into a pile.
"I'm going to go over to the bakery and see how it's going." I stand and make toward the doorway.
"Okay." Papa says softly. "Charlie?" He waits for me to turn back to him. "I love you." He says softly. There's such love on his face, but a layer of pain hides underneath.
"I love you too, Papa." I respond softly with a smile.
I make my way out of the house, not bothering to grab my keys. I know Cameron drove, so I don't want to have two cars when we're going back to the same place.
I undress and place my clothes in a bag. I shift and take the bag with my teeth. Since the bakery is in the Pack lands, I'm not worried about being seen. I run over to it, and since I'm still in my Wolf form, I scratch at the door with my paw for someone to open the door for me. They do so, and I make my way inside. I look up at the counter and see Cameron behind the register. Cammie! I link him.
Hey, Sweetheart. He links back, but is consumed with his task of ringing up a customer.
I want a caramel latte with blackberry and lavender. And a brownie. I smirk at him.
I'll bring one home for you. He replies happily.
Or, you could open the bathroom door for me, and I'll have it right now. I yip to get his attention.
"Charlie!" He cheers as he looks up and sees me. "I didn't know you were here!" He looks back at Shay for a moment. "Hey, I'll be right back."
"No worries, Cam." Shay smiles.
Cameron opens the bathroom door for me so I can shift back and get dressed.
"Thank you." I grin at him, before I pull him in for a kiss. "I was serious about that latte and brownie though."
