CHAPTER FIFTEEN
[15]
"Getting older" billie eilish

Olivia woke up on the couch in her living room, her body sore from the uncomfortable position she had slept in. The faint morning light was streaming in through the curtains, and for a brief moment, everything felt peaceful, normal even.
But as she blinked herself awake, the events of the past few days came rushing back, and her heart sank again. She had fallen asleep surrounded by Topper, Rafe, and Leah, all of them too exhausted from the chaos of the previous night to leave.

She sat up slowly, glancing around the room.
Leah was curled up on the armchair, still asleep, while Topper and Rafe had sprawled out on the floor, using cushions from the couch as makeshift pillows. It was strange to see them all here like this, especially after everything that had happened. A part of her felt comforted by their presence, while another part of her still felt off balance, unsure of where she stood with everyone.

Rafe was the first to stir, blinking groggily as he stretched and sat up. He glanced over at Olivia, his expression softening when their eyes met. "Morning," he mumbled, his voice thick with sleep.

"Morning," Riley replied quietly, offering him a small smile.

The rest of the group woke up slowly, and soon, they were all gathered in the kitchen, making breakfast together. Olivia cooked up some scrambled eggs while Topper made coffee, and Leah rummaged through the fridge for anything else they could eat. It was almost like old times. Easy, comfortable. Except for the undercurrent of tension that still lingered between her and Rafe from the night before.

As they sat down to eat, the conversation was light, filled with jokes and memories from high school. It felt almost surreal, like they were back to being the Kooks from before, before the Pogues and all the drama that had come with them. But Olivia knew things weren't that simple anymore.

After breakfast, they cleaned up and everyone headed out. Leah gave Olivia a tight hug before leaving, and Topper waved goodbye with a smile, promising to catch up soon. Rafe lingered for a moment longer than the others, his eyes locking with Olivia's in a way that made her heart skip a beat again.

"Take care of yourself," he said, his voice low.

Riley nodded, her throat suddenly tight. "You too."

When they were finally gone, Olivia went back to her room, collapsing onto her bed in a mixture of exhaustion and confusion. She hadn't had time to really process everything, and it felt like her world was spinning too fast for her to catch her breath. She closed her eyes, willing herself to fall back asleep, to escape from the mess for just a little longer.

It was late afternoon when she woke up again.
The house was quiet, and Olivia felt slightly disoriented, the events of the morning blurring together in her mind. She reached for her phone, checking her messages, and that's when she realized she hadn't talked to Sarah in what felt like forever.

She hesitated for a moment before typing out a message.

OLIVIA
Hey, can we talk? It's been a while.

SARAH
Yeah, let's meet up. You okay?

OLIVIA
Not really. Let's meet at the docks in 30?
SARAH
I'll be there.

Olivia felt a knot form in her stomach as she got ready to meet Sarah. It had been too long since they'd had a real conversation, and Olivia knew there was a lot to talk about. She needed to tell Sarah about everything. JJ, Kiara, Rafe, but a part of her was also dreading whatever Sarah had been keeping from her.

When Olivia arrived at the docks, Sarah was already there, sitting on the edge with her legs dangling over the water. She looked up when Olivia approached, giving her a tired smile.

"Hey," Sarah said softly, patting the spot next to her.
Olivia sat down beside her, staring out at the water. For a few moments, neither of them said anything, just enjoying the quiet. Finally, Sarah broke the silence.

"I've missed you," she said, her voice soft and filled with emotion. "I feel like we've been so distant lately, and I hate it."

Olivia nodded, her throat tight. "I've missed you too, Sarah. So much has happened, and I don't even know where to start."

Sarah looked at her, concern flickering across her face, "What's going on? You can tell me."

Olivia took a deep breath, finally letting everything spill out. "JJ... JJ cheated on me with Kiara," she said, her voice breaking slightly. "I found out a week ago, and it's been a mess ever since. I haven't talked to the Pogues. I... I don't know what to do anymore."

Sarah's eyes widened, shock and sympathy washing over her face. "Liv, I'm so sorry. I had no idea." She reached out, placing a comforting hand on Olivia's arm. "That's awful. I can't believe they did that to you."

Olivia nodded, her eyes stinging with unshed tears. "I feel so stupid for not seeing it sooner. And now... I don't know who I can trust anymore.I've been spending time with Rafe and Topper again, and I never thought I'd be back there, you know?"

Sarah was quiet for a moment, her expression unreadable. Then, she took a deep breath, as if bracing herself for something difficult. "Liv... I have to tell you something too."

Olivia turned to look at her, sensing the weight of whatever Sarah was about to say. "What is it?"

Sarah bit her lip, her hands fidgeting in her lap,
"I-I cheated on Topper, With John B."

Olivia's mouth dropped open in shock. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. "What?" she whispered, her voice barely audible. "Sarah, are you serious?"

Sarah nodded, tears filling her eyes. "I didn't mean for it to happen, I swear. It just... it just did. I feel awful, and I haven't told Topper yet. I don't know what to do, Liv."

For a moment, Olivia was speechless. She couldn't wrap her head around the fact that Sarah, of all people, had cheated on Topper. And with John B, of all people. "Sarah... I love you and I will always support you but that's wrong," Olivia said slowly, shaking her head. "You can't just pretend it didn't happen. You need to tell him."

"I know," Sarah whispered, wiping at her eyes. "I just... I'm scared of what he'll do. I don't want to hurt him, but I've already messed everything up."

Olivia sighed, feeling the weight of her own problems mix with Sarah's, It was like the world around them was falling apart, "I get it, Sarah, but you can't keep this from him. He deserves to know the truth, just like I deserved to know about JJ and Kiara."

Sarah nodded, her expression filled with regret.
"I know. I'll tell him. I just... needed to talk to someone first."

They sat in silence for a while, the weight of their secrets hanging between them. Olivia felt the sting of disappointment deep in her chest. She had always looked up to Sarah, admired her honesty and strength. But now, everything felt tainted.

The world had changed, and so had they,
