The group moved through the crowded dock area, tension still thick in the air after their unexpected encounter with the gangsters. With the ship they'd planned on using up in flames, they were left scrambling for a new way off the deck.
As they scanned the docks, looking for anyone willing to lend—or possibly rent—a boat to their ragtag group, a familiar face caught their eye.
"Jack?" Rose murmured, squinting at the tall, blond figure moving toward them. He was as confident and rugged as ever, his eyes gleaming with that same know-it-all smirk.
"Well, well," Jack said, crossing his arms and raising an eyebrow as he looked them over. "Didn't expect to see you all here. And without a ship, too. How convenient."
Taehyung rolled his eyes, exchanging a look with V. "Of course, he'd show up now."
Jack shrugged, glancing over the charred remains of their original vessel. "Seems like you had some... trouble. Need a little help?"
Before anyone could answer, another figure emerged from the shadows—a girl who looked every bit as mysterious as the dockside setting. She had a sharp, striking beauty, with dark hair and piercing eyes that hinted at a certain mischief. Her clothes were casual but just rough enough around the edges to suggest she wasn't one for rules. She moved with an easy confidence, her hands shoved in her pockets as she took in the group with a curious smile.
"You folks looking for a ship?" she asked, her tone light but her eyes dancing with a knowing glint.
Taehyung turned, a bit wary. "Who are you?"
She grinned, seemingly unfazed by the mistrust. "Name's Angel," she said smoothly. "And it just so happens that I've got a ship ready to go. It's docked just around the corner."
Jeongguk eyed her suspiciously. "That's convenient. How'd you know we needed one?"
Angel tilted her head, smirking. "Let's just say word travels fast around here. I heard some big shots just lost their ride." She nodded toward the smoldering remains of their ship. "I figured maybe I could lend a hand."
Jennie raised an eyebrow. "And why would you want to help us?"
Angel shrugged, feigning nonchalance. "I have my reasons. Let's just say I know a thing or two about adventure, and this sounds like my kind of fun."
Without waiting for further questions, Angel spun on her heel and started leading the way down a winding path toward the far end of the docks.
The group exchanged hesitant glances before following her, with Jack striding along, clearly enjoying their predicament.
After a few twists and turns, they reached a secluded area of the docks where a modest but sturdy-looking ship sat, its woodwork a bit worn but still reliable.
The vessel looked like it had seen its share of adventures, and the fact that it was docked in a dimly lit, less-frequented area made it seem all the more... appropriated.
"Where did you get this ship?" JK asked, his tone half-skeptical, half-amused.
Angel flashed him a wicked grin. "Let's just say it won't be missed anytime soon."
Everyone shared a look, clearly aware that Angel had stolen the ship. But considering their options, no one was about to ask too many questions.
"Well," Rose said, stepping onto the deck, "I guess we don't have much of a choice."
Angel leaned against the railing, arms crossed, watching them with a smirk. "It's a little worn but solid. She'll get you where you need to go."
Jeongguk inspected the ship, running a hand along the railing thoughtfully. "You sure about this?" he asked, casting a glance at Angel.
