Dazai felt tears prickling at his eyes, he had tried his best to become a good person like Odasaku wanted, but somehow the past always seemed to haunt him. In frustration he took out his earpiece and smashed it against a tree. The glittering shards of metal and wire bounced back imbedding themselves in his palm, but he didn't even register the pain. His whole body was now stained in blood, as his arm continued to bleed. He knew that if he didn't stop the bleeding he would most likely die, considering the amount of blood he had lost over the past few days it would most likely happen pretty soon. At least that was some consolation to the events of the past hour. He was and always will be a demon pretending to be human. So of course when he died who would care? Not Atsushi, not Kunikida, and Chuuya would probably throw a party, he thought with a vague amount of amusement. He felt his head growing fuzzy, and once again he closed his eyes, hoping that at last eternal sleep would take him and he could finally be rid of the curse of life.

What he did not expect was to wake up with Chuuya crying over him in the middle of the woods. Frantically trying to close up his wounds. His eyes were red and puffy like he had been crying for a while now, and his hands were dyed red with Dazai's blood. His face was a mix of sadness, fear, and regret, and he seemed so pained that Dazai wished he could do anything to make him happy again.

"Chibi, why are you here again?" He whispered weakly.

Chuuya's eyes widened in surprise and he quickly hugged Dazai in relief.

"Idiot.. I thought you were actually dead this time..."

"Don't worry so much, death hates me." Dazai slurred.

"Don't talk yet, you need to save your strength." Chuuya commanded.

Dazai did in fact stop speaking, and let Chuuya tend to his wounds. It would be unwise to argue with him after he put him through so much. Even though the cold embrace of death still lingered, Dazai felt his heart slowly get warmer as Chibi fretted over him. After Chuuya finished he attempted to stand but fell to his knees.

"Idiot wait till I can help you!" Chuuya exclaimed worriedly as he picked up Dazai.

It was quite a comical sight, as Chuuya was much shorter than Dazai who was hanging like a limp noodle in his arms. It would have been easier if Dazai didn't have a nullification ability which made it so Chuuya couldn't use his gravitational powers on him. Chuuya frowned as he picked Dazai up into his arms.

"Your lighter than you should be Mackerel... When was the last time you ate?" Chuuya asked concern laced on his face.

"Probably just the blood loss~" Dazai teased dodging the question.

"Don't joke about this stuff!" Chuuya exclaimed. "Guess I will just have to make sure you are eating enough..."

"Aww Chuuya is always such a good dog~"

"I AM NOT A DOG!"

After a while of Chuuya carrying Dazai in his arms, Dazai felt his eyes growing heavy again. It wasn't long before he drifted off to sleep, and for the first time in a while he felt at ease.
