Double Trouble

chapter 5

Lexi's POV:
I wake up the next morning in between Lucas and Harry. I try to move but they are both really close together. I can't speak so I poke them both till they wake up and let me move. They both look bashful but I head downstairs silently. When I reach the kitchen I hear a few adults arguing. I peak in the door and see Sirius, Remus, dumbledor, a lady with pink hair, and a man with greasy black hair. I stand in the doorway and they don't notice me. "Dumbledor she is Lilly's daughter! How could you let the girl get beaten until she is mute? "The man with black hair asks sounding heartbroken and furious at the same time. "Honestly I agree with Severus. Albus this was a horrible thing to do. And what was worse you knew and didn't stop it!" The lady says banging her fist lightly on the table.

"Nymphadora I understand where you are coming from but I really didn't have a choice. Sirius was in Azkaban, Remus could barely support his own children, Severus hates kids really, the Dursley's wouldn't have taken her even if you payed them, and you were away at work all the time." Dumbledor explains gravely. "You could have taken her or Minerva! Hell you could have raised her at Hogwarts!" Sirius almost yells. "Dumbledor we all love her like crazy you have to keep us informed on what she is going through. We didn't even know if she was alive. And since she was in the system it wouldn't be unusual for one to just die!" Remus says sighing. He then looks up and notices me start ding there. "Lexi! How long have you been sta ding there? "He asks standing up and keeping eye contact. All the other adults either spin around or look up quickly.

'I heard everything. Do you all really mean that?' I sign (will also useapostrophies when signing something). "Yeah we all do Lexi. Honestly we all gave up hope that you were still alive when you weren't brought home to one of us. We all stayed in contact just in case you showed up some were realitivly close to any of us. We just didn't know anything. We were terrified that the worst had happened." Sirius explains standing next to Remus. 'Thank you. This means a lot.' They all smile at me and I walk over and hug Remus and Sirius. They both smile and kiss the top if my head. Severus and Nymphadora give us strange looks. 'They are like my uncles.' I explain. They then nod and smile at me. "Hey Severus can you be nice to her at school? She has only known pain and hatred so she need some loving from her friends and professors." Dumbledor asks him standing up to leave. "Of course. But that doesn't mean I will appear to like her brother. Lilly also had me down as a adoptive uncle so she is as much of my niece as yours." He says standing up to leave as well. I wave good bye to everyone who doesn't live here and sit down to eat when they leave.

Sirius's POV:
All the other kids walk in as Remus sets some toast and and apple in front of Lexi. She turns around and waves to them as they sit down around her. He then grabs a big plate of eggs, bacon, and potatoes on the table in the middle. "Lex if you want to try and eat a little more you can have some." He says as he sits down next to his son. 'This is fine but may I have some pumpkin juice?' She asks. I nod and grab a bottle from the pantry. I hand it to her and she takes small sips as she eats a bit faster than yesterday.

"Hey when do we go to diagon alley?" Harry asks looking up from his plate. "We could go today." I respond as I grab a few slices of bacon. I then nudge Lexi from u dear the table with my knee and pass her a small strip of bacon. She slowly nibbles at it and grins at me. I nod back and we finish eating. The kids then walk back upstairs and grab their clothes before going into different rooms to change. Remus and I are cleaning up the plates when a scream comes from the third floor. We hear many sets of feet running and we join them. We group up outside if a room and see that it was Sarah who screamed. Everyone but Lexi draws their wands.we then bardge into the room and see a giant spider cornering Sarah. We start to fire spells but the spider is magical so they all bounce back. Alex then whistles sharply and dives to the right if the door as the spider follows her whistles. She then gets to the bookcase and scales it so we can reach the underside as he climbs up after her. Sarah runs to the door and Alex jumps from the top of the shelf to the ground and lands perfectly.

Remus shoots a spell and the spider finnaly stops. Lexi walks back over to us out of breath. The spider starts to move again and Lexi backs into the sunlight. The spider starts to burn as the sun touches it. Lexi and I then run to pull back the curtains. The spider screaches and turns into a dark gray ash. We all sigh in relief and congratulate Lexi for her idea of confusing it. 'That is how you get away from freaky people. What is best is if a bunch if people do it at once. Then whatever it is gets to confused.' She signs as she walks back upstairs to finish changing. We then all meet back downstairs and get ready to leave. We go ahead and split into groups to leave and Lexi is going with Remus, Lucas, and Harry.
