I look around the corridor and finally spot the person I was looking for. I take a deep breath and start walking towards her.

Universe, give me the power to handle this.

"Hey, you guys. Can I borrow her for a minute?" I ask Elias.

"Why?" Ria asks me.

"I want to talk to you about something," I explain to her. She gives me a suspicious look. An understanding look passes on her face, and she nods.

"Baby, I'll be back in a minute," she says to Elias before walking in the opposite direction.

"Sure," we hear him say.

We reach an empty classroom, and she turns to face me. "This better be important, and you better make this quick."

"It is important. Look, whatever happened between us tomorrow, please just forget it, ok."

"What makes you think I give a damn about you," she says with a scoff.

"I know you don't give a damn about me and honesty, I don't give a damn about you either. This isn't about that," I tell her, already tired of this conversation.

"Then what is this about?" She asks in the same tired tone.

"As you may know, we share quite a few classes together, unfortunately. And I don't know about you, but I am very serious about my studies. I don't want you to create unnecessary drama during our lectures."

"Well, you can save yourself from unnecessary drama very easily. Just don't talk to Elias ever again," she countered.

"And what if he comes to talk to me?" I ask, hoping she wouldn't answer what I think she is going to answer.

"I'll make sure he won't, but if he does, you ignore him," she says with a shrug.

"Are you seriously going to control who he talks to?"

"Yes, he is my boyfriend."

"Exactly, he is your boyfriend. Not your child," I say exasperated.

"You don't need to teach me how to handle my boyfriend. We are doing just fine."

I highly doubt that!

"Does he also control who you talk to?"

"Doesn't fucking matter. Just stay away from him and you won't get into any trouble," she spews and walks past me out the door.

"Is she for real?" I ask myself. Now I really need to talk to Elias. I don't trust her to not stir any drama just to see me in trouble.

After my first lecture, I try to look for Elias. Chances of him being without Ria are very less but I still hope that luck would be on my side.

And I guess it was, as I find him sitting in the garden with a book, no sign of his girlfriend around him.

Thank universe!

I quickly walk up to him. The faster this conversation is over, the better.

"Hey, Elias," I breathe out.

Elias looks up at me with a surprise expression. "Oh hey, Alaia! What's up? I am glad you came. I wanted to apologise for yesterday. I know you heard our conversation during the Asian literature class. You must've felt so awkward. I am sorry about it. Ria gets like that sometimes," he says with an embarrassed smile.

I felt the same. "Uh yeah, no, its fine. You don't have to apologise. I actually wanted to talk to you about something. Something related to Ria."

"What is it?" He sounds concerned now.
