"Thousands have lived without love, none without water"
W.H Auden
Loren Eisely said that if magic in this magic on this planet, it is contained in water. But what we often forget that this liquid has the ability to destroy us to. We continuously destroy our environment forgetting that with global warming comes an increase in water. As we left the memorial it started to rain, the first non acidic rain in months something which put a smile on my face. When I woke up this morning all I could here were the sound of the first lady shouting evacuate! Which alarmed me , I reached down stairs and asked her what we were evacuating for and she asked me to look through the glass doors and I saw the Victoria I had grown to love's levels threatening to break the walls of the beach I was in so much shock that I barely felt them dragging me to the car and across the city to my father's town house.
Rupi Kaur said "she is water, soft enough to offer life, tough enough to drown it away" over tbe past few days I've seen water drown away people's lives, dreams and aspirations. Yesterday, I sneaked out with the cook to the local fish market and what I saw broke me to the edge of tears. The smell of fish wasn't its usual inviting itself and you could feel the death was in the air. When I returned home this evening to a fuming father who was reluctant to accept my explanation of why I had decided to move out, I was tired of being locked out of the problems of the world if I was to change the world I had to face its problems first hand. I resorted to questioning him on why he had not done enough to protect the environment and that it was people like him who led to the deaths of the masses of which he responded that the environmental destruction which our country contributed to was less than1% of the total destruction of the rest of the world and that the richer nations were entitled to provide financial assistance to us the broke ones but honestly it sounded pathetic, life was pathetic.
