A statement from Kate

Hello all,

I wanted to come on here and check in with you all and talk to you all. After last night I know that there is a whole slew of emotions that we are all feeling both domestically and abroad I know the 2024 presidential election has had a profound presence in people's lives. While I dont want to add to your information dump or overwhelm you, I do feel it necessary to write this today for my readers and myself.

For whatever reason I feel I have been given a (very small) platform to connect and talk with all of you. I want to start by saying I do not assume nor do I condone anyone's political views. I believe the beauty of living in a democracy is that we are all allowed to voice our own feelings. I predominantly write work with a wlw relationship as the center focus. I am someone who believes in Jesus I was raised with a Christian upbringing in a Southern Baptist church. Those values are something I still carry. The core values such as love thy neighbor, not the fire and brimstone mentality that is sadly associated with evangelical Christians (of which I do not identify)

I tell you all this to let you know that I believe Jesus came to this earth and spent his time loving people not hating or belittling them. He said, "Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her." in John 8:3-11. I am nervous for the next 4 years. I am afraid for the protection of many of my friends. Sad to say but as a white woman I know while my rights have been and will continue to be challenged I am in a far better boat than some of my closest friends.

Whatever you are feeling today please know your feelings are valid. If you are happy or disappointed even in regards to the local, state, and national election I want you to know that I am a safe space for you. Some of you may find yourself in a situation where it's not safe to voice your feelings so please know I am always here for each and every one of you.

I know I haven't written in a long time and please know my intention was never to be away this long. To write a story for this long I have given and received so much from the character that is Josephine. Im trying to find my way back to the heart of who the character is. Every time I sit down to write it feels forced and unnatural and I dont feel it is fair to her or you all to do that. Thank you for remaining faithful and I hope to be able to publish for you all soon.
