Full disclosure, I came up with this concept on a 26 hour bus ride, but bear with me.
So, some of ya'll will remember Omega Supreme from Transformers Animated; how he was his own Transformer, but also a ship that people could pilot? Similarly to how humans could still drive a bot in vehicle form?
Well, what if there were a group of Transformers like Omega Supreme? Here's the concept (taking place in the Transformers Prime universe, or at least one that closely resembles it):
Similarly to Minicons, Megabots are a unique category of Cybertronian that have a sort of symbiotic relationship with the more common humanoid Cybertronian. In the Golden Age, they had many options for jobs, one of which was transporting special cargo through spacebridges.
Megabots are massive Cybertronians that transform into starships, massive ground vehicles, submarines, etc. that smaller Cybertronians can reside inside and also help pilot/run functions, although they are not necessary for that Megabot to function independently; again, like a smaller Cybertronian allowing a human to drive.
At the beginning of the war, Megabots chose sides just like any other Cybertronian, and the majority of them ended up with the Autobots. As such, a special camp was put in place to train special units for dangerous missions.
Toward the beginning of the war, this camp was busy with new trainees and Megabots. That's where our story begins.
It's a bit of an odd concept, but I like it, and I think it has a lot of interesting potential.
Here's the summary/synopsis/P.O.V.s of our main characters:
Kulbit has always been an outcast for many reasons. For a Megabot, he's very small. He only has enough room for a three bot crew! Three! How embarrassing. He desperately wants to be up in the sky fighting the good fight with the big guys, but they all make fun of him, and no crewmate is willing to fly with him. All the ones that gave him a chance immediately back out when they go for a test flight and find out that Kulbit is quite the reckless flier. If Kulbit can't find a crew that's willing to fly with him, he'll be doomed as a transport and dropship.
Aerial Megabot crews are traditionally fliers, Axel knows this. This is so that if the Megabot goes down, the crew has a chance of escaping, as well as so the crew can give the Megabot aerial support if needed. Being a grounder, Axel has almost no chance of being accepted into "Megacamp" as it's called, but such technicalities have never stopped him before.
Overshoot is on his last strike. After multiple failures to comply with orders, rushing into danger, and all the disasters that have resulted from his batshit crazy plans, he's this close from being court marshaled and dishonorably discharged. If you asked Overshoot, he would say he's just doing his job, and it's the others' fault for not being able to keep up. According to everyone else, he's just insane. His final chance at proving himself is to fly with a Megabot even crazier than he is.
Anomaly, as his name would imply, is an anomaly. He has been the lone survivor of several intense battles, disasters, and massacres. He's also saved countless Autobots as a combat medic, but that hasn't made up for all the death he's witnessed, all the lives he couldn't save. As you can imagine, this would wear down any bot's mental health, and it has reduced Anomaly's mental state to saving others because it's his only purpose and he has no worth otherwise. After his most recent success in battle, the higher ups have decided to assign him to a permanent crew in the hopes that he can keep them all alive.
I really like these characters, I think dynamics would be very interesting! Like I said, I think the concept has a lot of potential, and I think it would be fun to write!
See ya'll!!
