"He nearly died himself!" Yun Qianyue recalled how she had desperately saved that guy only to be met with ingratitude, fueling her anger.
"Even if he were to die, he would still protect you!" The old lord looked at Yun Qianyue, seeing her gnash her teeth at the mention of Rongjing, and he puffed up his cheeks, "What's with that expression? Did he offend you?"
"He offended me greatly! I never want to see that person again!" Yun Qianyue declared.
"You little brat, who do you think would want to see you? If I hadn't embarrassed myself to send someone to the Rong Prince's residence to ask Lord Rong to protect you, would you have had the fortune to have him watch over you? Who is Lord Rong? Who are you? If you don't want to see him, he wouldn't even bother to look your way!" The old lord rolled his eyes at Yun Qianyue, huffing disdainfully.
"Then that's perfect! I couldn't be happier!" Yun Qianyue immediately replied.
"You little brat! You're just asking for a beating!" The old lord threw a brush at Yun Qianyue's head.
"Grandfather, if you want to hit me, then I'll just leave," Yun Qianyue glared at him. This old man really needed to change his ways of scolding and hitting people.
The brush stopped just an inch from her forehead, and the old lord looked at her, his chest heaving, "You little brat, you really are rebellious. I will hit you for sure, but if you dare to take a step away, see what I do!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Yun Qianyue felt the brush land firmly on her forehead.
She huffed, glaring at him, knowing she couldn't really leave. After staring him down for a while, seeing his puffed-up face as if he would really strike her if she resisted, she suddenly kicked her legs and cried out, "Wah!" It was loud and raucous, as if she were wailing like someone who had lost a mother.
At that moment, footsteps approached the courtyard. It was the old lord and Yun Muhan returning. Upon hearing Yun Qianyue's cries, they exchanged glances and hurried into the room.
The old lord panicked instantly, dropping the brush in his hand as he looked at Yun Qianyue, "Hey, you little brat, what are you crying about?"
Yun Qianyue ignored him, kicking the table and making loud bangs.
"I didn't even hit you hard..." The old lord looked helplessly at her.
Yun Qianyue cried even louder, refusing to speak.
"Okay, okay, it's my fault, I shouldn't have hit you, I..." The old lord reached out to wipe her tears, but she pushed his hand away. He wasn't angry; instead, he smiled apologetically, "Grandfather understands you feel wronged. Come on, stop crying. I won't hit you anymore..."
Yun Qianyue continued to cry, her feet never stopping, causing the table to shake violently, and the calligraphy and ink on it were about to fall to the ground. It was as if she didn't see it, kicking fiercely.
"Stop crying already!" The old lord, seeing that coaxing wasn't working, shouted angrily.
Yun Qianyue's wailing escalated the moment he spoke, sounding so pitiful that it seemed as if she had lost her mother.
The old lord was startled, watching her cry, his face wrinkled with worry. He quickly softened his tone, "I'm just joking with you! You don't need to take it so seriously! Come on, tell me who bullied you, and I'll have that little scoundrel killed for you!"
"Qianyue, let's talk this through. Don't cry..." The old lord couldn't bear it anymore and quickly walked over to comfort her.
Yun Muhan rushed over to support the table, saving a fine inkstone and a stack of calligraphy papers. He didn't speak, only looking at Yun Qianyue as her tears flowed like a fountain, his gaze flickering.
"Ah, it's my fault, my fault..." The old lord lowered his voice, apologizing.
"Qianyue, look, your grandfather has even admitted his mistake. Stop crying..." Yun Wangye had never seen the old lord apologize to anyone; even the emperor had to bear some of his temper. He urged Yun Qianyue gently, "You've been through a lot these days and just got rescued. Now that he has scolded and hit you, of course, you feel uncomfortable."
"You little brat. Sigh..." The old lord breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that Yun Qianyue had finally stopped crying. He patted her shoulder, trying to comfort her, "Come on, stop crying. Grandfather knows you feel wronged, but it's also your fault for being so foolish. How could you be so easily tricked?"
"How was I supposed to know about that cursed aphrodisiac?" Yun Qianyue fumed at the thought.
The old lord's face darkened, "How dare someone use such despicable things to harm my granddaughter! They must not want to live." After speaking, he shot a glare at Yun Qianyue, "You little brat, Lord Rong is such a good boy. Don't you know to take the chance to let him help you with the antidote? Why did you take his Tian Shan Snow Lotus Pill? If he had helped you detox, I would have married you off to him! A grandson-in-law like him is a hundred times better than you, this little brat..."
"Hey! Are you even my grandfather?" Yun Qianyue glared at him, her cheeks still wet with tears, her eyes red. She couldn't understand what was going through the old man's head. How could Rongjing be a hundred times better than her?
