Journey to the Underworld

In the Underworld...

Sensei Wu has awoken in the bottom of a rock fall after falling off the lava falls back in the Fire Temple with his tea set all shattered and broken and the Sword of Fire next to him. He stood up and picked up the Golden Weapon before he ventured deeper into a cave while he gazed his surroundings.

Wu then finds a clearing and saw where he is now, "Hmm, the Underworld."

In a dark realm, there are pieces of land staying afloat in midair with long wooden bridges connecting to each land piece and lit-up white torches on each bridge to provide sufficient lighting, also there are Skulkin wondering around regularly. Wu then quickly hides behind the rock pillars when he saw Skulkin patrolling this way before he puts the Sword of Fire down and takes out a cloth to wrap it around the golden sword, he then stealthily moved deeper into the Underworld and checked to see if he wasn't being followed before he ran inside a palace made of skeleton bones, knowing that his dark brother is in there somewhere waiting for him.

Back in Ninjago

Cole, Alisa, Jay, and Zane have reached the Fire Temple as they rushed up the steps to the entrance, only to see that it has been blocked by boulders as they hoped Kai and Sensei Wu were still in there.

"Kai? Kai!" Alisa called out from outside the temple.

"Sensei! Are you guys in there?!" Cole shouted out, hoping they would hear them.

Zane has sensed something that made him very solemn, taking off his hood, "The Sword of Fire was here, as well our friends." He started as his friends turned to him. "But I only sense lost. We are too late. The Elemental Weapons have left this realm and are now in the Underworld. The end is drawing near." He said sullenly as he turned to his friends.

Cole sighed in frustration and dropped down on the stone steps, "Ugh, great! The one place no mortal can cross over." He complained while he, Alisa, and Jay took off their hoods as well.

"We might not be able to cross over." Kai's voice called out, which drew the four Ninja's attention as they turned around and watched the entire Fire Temple splits itself open as the group stepped back with wide eyes at the sight until the temple revealed Kai and Nya on the back of a fire dragon. "But a dragon can!" Kai finished as the dragon lets out a loud roar.

While the other Ninja were shocked, Cole screamed in fear as he immediately ducked and cowered behind Alisa from the dragon and peeks out over the surprised girl's shoulder fearfully.

"Our father used to tell us stories about the dragons." Nya started as Kai hopped off the fire dragon. "They were mystical creatures that belong to both worlds and very between them."

"W-Wha...?!" Cole stammered, flabbergasted. "A-Are you insane?!"

"Once Flame here realized that we were trying to protect the Sword of Fire, heh, he actually became quite a softy." Kai said with a slight chuckle as he petted the fire dragon.

"Flame?" Alisa asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah, that's what I named him." Kai said proudly as the fire dragon nuzzled him, making the red-clad ninja chuckle. "Hehehe, knock it off."

Nya gave a chuckle at her brother and she heard a raspy and strained voice as she turned to see Jay, who was trying to ask her something, but he still couldn't talk as he coughed.

Zane appeared next to the blue-clad ninja and looked up at the raven-haired girl, "He cannot talk, but he wants to know if you like blue." He translated for Jay, who nodded at her with an eager smile.
