Last Chapter

"I don't wanna get up." Ruby whispered. "Neither do i. But we have to. Back to reality, you know?" Mel smiles sadly. Ruby sighs as she sits up. Tears starts rolling down her cheeks as Mel wipes them. "I know, i know. Me too." Her eyes start to water. "What are we gonna do about my stuff? And my old apartment?" Ruby asks. "I'll get you a new one, a nicer one this time. And as for your stuff, we can deal with that after we come back from the tour." Mel rubs her arm. Ruby sighs. "Ok." Mel gets up and grabs Ruby's clothes. "What are you doing?" She asks. Mel says nothing, she simply starts dressing Ruby in silence before she dresses herself. "We should get some sleep. It's late." Mel heads to the door. Ruby checks the time. 9:21PM not technically late but still a bit late since they have to wake up early for tomorrow. Last rehearsals before they go on tour the next day. "I'll take the couch." Mel whispers. Ruby quickly grabs her hand. "Please?" Mel shakes her head. "Ruby, we shouldn't. We're not together anymore." That hurt, but deep down she knows Mel's right. "Ok." Ruby nods. Mel kisses the top of her head, letting her lips linger for a bit before walking out and closing the door behind her.

It was a restless night for them both, tossing and turning, not to mention the uncomfortable position Mel had to sleep in on the couch. They both wake up early tomorrow morning, Ruby walks out with her suitcases as Mel taps away on her phone. "Ready?" She asks. Ruby nods. She orders them an Uber and they both get in the back. "Weekend getaway?" "Uh, we're going on tour, actually." Mel smiles kindly. "Really? That's exciting." Ruby nods. "Yeah." They get to the studio and Mel pays for the ride. "Ruby!" Kylie runs up and hugs her. "Kylie!" She hugs her back tightly. "You ready?!" She smiles. "Let's do this!" Ruby shouts. "Where's everyone else?" Mel asks. "On the bus already." Kylie points behind her. "Alright, well, let's go then." Mel takes their luggage and heads to the buses. Ruby stares at her longingly. "Hey, you ok?" Kylie asks her. "We broke up." Ruby whispered. "What?" Kylie looks at her with wide eyes. Ruby simply nods. "She said it's for the best and you know what? Maybe she's right."

"You don't seriously think that." Kylie shakes her head. "No, i do. Being with Mel has opened my eyes. Maybe she's just too old for me? She has so much to deal with. Us, the tour, all these rumors, her own acting career, i don't wanna add to that." Ruby shakes her head. "You're gonna add to it regardless. She's our manager. We'll always be stuck with her." "Yeah, until she reassigns us." Ruby sighs. "Do you really think she'll do that?" She asks. Ruby shrugs. "If you asked me that months ago, i would have said no. Now? I don't even know anymore." She sighs. Kylie rubs her back. "Hey, you'll make it through this ok? And we both know that she still loves you. She didn't break up with you cause she doesn't love you anymore. It was just....other complications." Ruby nods. "Yeah, i know. Um, can i be alone for a second? I gotta change so they can get me in hair and make up." Kylie nods. "Yeah, of course." Kylie stands and sits next to Malia. They chat for a bit before she leans her head on her shoulder. Well, at least someone's happy. She sighs. "Hey, you ok?" Joshua sits next to her. Ruby shakes her head. "No, Mel and i broke up." "Oh damn, I'm so sorry Ruby." He holds her hand. Ruby shrugs. "Nothing we can do about it now." They reach the stadium and everyone gets out. "Alright guys! Rehearsal first and then you guys can head back to the hotel, unpack, settle in. I don't know why they chose California to be our first stop, don't look at me. I didn't do a thing." Everyone laughs as they head inside. Ruby and Joshua part ways as they head into their dressing rooms. Ruby pauses when she spots a bouquet of flowers. Did Mel do this? She walks up and smells them. She notices a card and picks it up.

Your secret admirer

"Hey Ruby?! Can i borrow your- whoa! What's this?" Malia pauses when she sees the huge bouquet. "Um, i don't know. But I don't think this is from Mel." Ruby shows her the card. "Secret admirer? Who the hell is that?" She asks. Ruby shrugs. "I don't know. But Mel and i broke up so it's definitely not her." "You guys broke up?!" "Malia, focus." "Right, sorry. Do you think it's someone on tour with us?" Ruby shakes her head. "No way. Everyone knows i was dating Mel." Malia looks at her with wide eyes. "You don't think it's....like..from a stalker, do you?" Ruby looks at her. "Well, today's just not my lucky day, is it?"
