At the end of the week, Booth, Bones, Meredith, and The Jeffersonian team traveled to Mississippi to speak with Laney's coworkers at the crime lab and her book publisher.
Once in Mississippi, Booth and Bones traveled to Natchez to speak with Laney's book publisher and then back to Gulfport, where the rest of the team was, to speak with Laney's coworkers at the crime lab. First on the agenda was speaking with Laney's book publisher, Elle Benson of the Magnolia Publishing Company, at Bluff Park.

"Hi, Ms. Benson," said Booth as he and Bones approached her. Elle stood, shook their hands, and replied, "Please, call me Elle and you must be Agent Booth and Dr. Brennan." Booth and Bones nodded in confirmation. "When was the last time you heard from Laney," asked Bones. Elle replied, "October 25th when she sent me this message." Once Booth and Bones were done talking with Elle, they went back to Gulfport and spoke with Laney's boss and the four other people, including Laney's fiancée, who worked with Laney in the lab. When asked when they had last heard from Laney, they all replied, "October 25th when she sent me this message." Booth and Bones sighed.
While Booth and Bones were talking with Laney's book publisher and coworkers, Cam and Meredith talked with Laney's younger sister, 16-year-old Danica or Dani. "When was the last time you heard from your sister," questioned Cam. Like the others, Dani replied, "October 25th when she sent me this message." Cam and Meredith sighed.
