The sun was low in the sky, casting an orange glow over the skatepark. North Shaw leaned on his skateboard, watching Liquido with a relaxed grin. The Hydra FC player was already dressed to impress, with his intense gaze making it clear he wasn’t here to mess around. North knew Liquido had that air about him—the one that made him feel like he was constantly preparing to conquer the world. Today, though, he looked a bit out of his element.
“Dude, you ready to shred?” North asked, offering his boyfriend a playful wink.
Liquido’s usual confidence faltered for a moment as he glanced at the steep ramps and bowls around them. “Ready as I’ll ever be,” he muttered, rubbing his hands together. North chuckled and walked over, gently handing Liquido the board.
Now don't get Liquido wrong; Liquido is a sucker for sports---watersports to be exact. Skateboarding wasn't just his cup of tea. But he was convinced that if North could do it, then he could, right?
“Alright, step one dude: standing still,” North said with a grin, patting the board.
Liquido rolled his eyes, shooting North a look that could cut glass. “I think I can handle that, North.”
“Oh yeah?” North raised an eyebrow, his smile widening. “Let’s see it, then. Show me what you got.”
Taking a deep breath, Liquido stepped onto the board. North kept a hand on his shoulder for balance as Liquido wobbled, his arms flailing for a second before he steadied himself. North bit back a laugh. Seeing Liquido off his game was a rare sight, but he couldn’t deny it was also adorable.
“There we go! See? It’s not that bad,” North encouraged, gently removing his hand. Liquido managed to stay upright, his face a mixture of concentration and slight annoyance.
“Yeah, yeah,” Liquido muttered, but his lips quirked up at the corners. “Now what?”
North motioned for him to give a gentle push, keeping a watchful eye as Liquido rolled forward, a bit stiff but maintaining balance. “Look at you! Totally gnarly, babe!” North cheered, laughing as Liquido shot him a glare.
“Don’t call me ‘babe’ here,” Liquido hissed, but his tone lacked its usual bite. North knew he was just as amused as he was nervous.
They spent the next few minutes working on the basics, with North guiding Liquido along the edge of the skatepark. Liquido’s movements were precise, as if he were learning choreography, but he was gradually relaxing into it, his confidence building with every successful roll across the pavement.
“Alright, how about we try something a bit more fun?” North suggested, nodding toward a gentle ramp. “It’s just a little incline. Promise it won’t bite.”
Liquido narrowed his eyes at the ramp, his competitive spirit flaring up. “Fine. Let’s do it.”
North gave him a thumbs-up, stepping aside as Liquido pushed off and rolled toward the ramp. For a moment, it looked like he had it. Liquido’s stance was strong, his focus sharp. But just as he reached the top, his weight shifted awkwardly, and before either of them knew it—
Bang!
The sound of the skateboard’s hard impact with the ground echoed through the park as Liquido lost his balance and fell, landing with a grunt. North was at his side in seconds, concern etched across his face.
“You alright, dude?” he asked, crouching beside him.
Liquido groaned, rubbing his elbow. “I’m fine. Just… slipped.” His cheeks were flushed, a mix of embarrassment and irritation flashing in his eyes.
North held back a laugh, offering a hand. “Hey, you didn’t crack the board, and that’s what counts, right?” He helped Liquido to his feet, the tension between them melting as they shared a chuckle.
“Don’t get used to this,” Liquido grumbled, though a smile tugged at his lips. “Next time, I’ll be the one showing you how it’s done.”
“Oh, is that a challenge?” North teased, nudging him playfully.
“Maybe,” Liquido shot back, his eyes glinting with that familiar determination. But his tone softened as he added, “Thanks, North. For being… patient with me.”
North shrugged, sliding his arm around Liquido’s waist. “Anything for you, bro. Besides, seeing you all wobbly on a skateboard? Priceless.”
They spent the next hour at the skatepark, North teaching Liquido how to turn, balance, and even do a few simple tricks. As the evening wore on, the park emptied out, leaving them alone with the fading light and the sound of their laughter echoing off the concrete.
They sat in comfortable silence for a while, watching the sky turn from orange to deep blue as the stars began to twinkle above them. North could feel Liquido leaning into him, a small, contented smile on his face as they both enjoyed the quiet, the thrill of skating forgotten for now.
As they left the skatepark, North draped an arm around Liquido’s shoulders. “Next time, I’ll teach you how to do a trick off the bowl,” he said, winking.
“Don’t push your luck,” Liquido replied, but he was grinning. “I’d rather not hear another 'bang'.”
North laughed, leaning over to press a quick, affectionate kiss to his cheek. “Totally worth it, dude.”
