I ran towards the class as the bell rang, to try and get there on time. Too late. Prayers started and I stopped on the staircase to say my prayers. I dropped my bag on the steps. I was still thinking about the conversation I had with Dahlia last night. She was so sweet, I mean she's always sweet...and perfect. She's sweet and perfect, lost in thought I mindlessly looked up at the top of the staircase. My heart did a little jump when I saw Dahlia on prefect duty. She was looking straight at me. I gave her a shy smile and she returned it. Who gave this woman permission to be so perfect? We stared at each other for a moment before abruptly looking away. I, all of a sudden unsure how to act, tried to look anywhere but at her. I felt her eyes land on me again and it took everything in me to not look at her.
After a while of just standing there discreetly glanced at her. She was currently staring into space and she looked so adorable. Her lips parted, deep in thought. I couldn't tear my eyes away from the sight. Just then she looked at me and caught me staring. I felt heat rise to my cheeks as she gave me a lopsided smile. I tried to look away but her gaze had me captured. We stared at each other and it felt like time stopped for a second. The sound of the bells brought me back to reality and we both quickly looked away. I grabbed my bag and walked up the stairs as she started walking down them. "hi" I said, to which she replied "Hello". Our eyes met for a brief second and we both walked in the opposite direction.
Afterschool
I sighed in relief as the last period finally ended. Today was such a boring day and even the interval was a bit dull since Sage and Addy hadn't come to school. I grabbed my stuff and made my way towards Sam's class. When I entered Sam was getting ready for hockey. "Today was so terrible," I whined, plopping onto the chair. "I know right, I was so bored since Sage wasn't here" She said struggling to put her socks on. "I better get going now, all I want to do is go home and fall in to the bed" I grabbed a bite of Sam's rice and made my way out of the class.
As I was approaching the staircase, I saw Dahlia again. Why is it when you want to get over a crush you always keep seeing them? It's like the universe wants your life to be harder. She saw me and greeted me with her usual perfect smile. "Hi! How are you" She asked. " I'm good, you?" "Pretty good" " How was your day" " Eventful, a kid fell down the staircase today" She said while climbing down with me. "What?! Is she ok?" Yeah she's ok just a couple of bruises, anything interesting on your side?" "Nope literally nothing, today was so boring" At this point we were right outside the cafeteria and she grabbed her bags from the bench. "I wanted to check on you, you looked really sad today during interval" Interval? I didn't see her in the interval. "I didn't see you in the interval" "You didn't see me but I saw you. You were waiting for your friend to get to finish getting food" "Oh, to answer your question Yeah I'm fine just have a lot going on, you know with studying and stuff" "Yeah i get it, I'm guessing today being a boring day didn't help" and without really thinking I replied "Well it's not boring anymore" She looked like she was trying to process what I just said and after a brief moment she said " Glad to now I made your day better, Cause you definitely made mine" I literally thought that I was gonna melt after hearing that. " Anyway I better get going before the bus leaves me, good luck on your exam on Monday" With that she took of towards the car park leaving me standing there. Did she just say that I made her day better? Just thinking that made me want to burst with joy. With a smile on my face I made my way to the main gate. Today just got 10 times better.
