Julia hummed a soft song as she walked through brush, and ducked under tree branches. She smiled at the sight of a bird, perched up on a high branch.
She was out exploring the woods, there not being anything else better to do. Her sister was hunting with Daryl, and her dad was somewhere around camp cleaning his gun, or sharpening his knife.
So Julia took to nature, with a small basket in hand hoping to collect anything edible. She'd taken upon the role of forager, since she was already so comfortable in the woods. She was used to this kind of life. In multiple occasions she and her family joined the Dixons on hunting trips, she knew her ropes around the wild.
She noticed some pecans on the forest floor, and picked them up, adding them to the build up in the small basket.
Walking back into camp she was greeted by the friendly smiles and waves of the campers.
"What'd you find today?" Lori asked, standing further ahead wiping her hands on her pants.
"Just some more pecans, same as yesterday." Julia lifts the basket.
"Better than nothing." Lori takes one popping it into her mouth as she takes the basket from her hands. "Thank you."
"No problem."
"How was it out there today?" Amy asked, walking into the conversation, some wood in hand.
"Beautiful, you'll have to join me sometime." Julia suggests.
"Y'know, that might actually be fun. I could use some of that."
The group two girls laugh.
They get interrupted by the static of the radio system.
"Hello, can anybody hear my voice."
The audio was muffled, but that much could clearly be made out.
"Hello, hello. Can you hear my voice."
"Hey hello?" Julia crouches down to the system, speaking into the device.
"Can anybody hear my voice?" The male in the other end asks again.
"Yes I can hear you! Over." She says happily smiling up at Amy.
"If anybody reads, please respond." He speaks again, not hearing her.
Dale has made his way over, and was standing above the two, amongst a few others who have heard the broadcasting as well.
