The Dursleys Visit Hogwarts: Revised

"Dudders, can you grab the mail while I finish making breakfast," Petunia, called, as the boy exited the hall. 

"Sure, mum," Dudley acknowledged, moseying his way to the front door and grabbing the stack of letters off of the floor under the slot. As he grabbed the last one, the wax seal popped open suddenly. Dudley, jumped slightly in surprise and hesitantly added to the pile in his other hand. He made his was back to the kitchen looking at the letter oddly. 

"Mum, this one with the wax seal, just popped open as soon as I grabbed it, it was weird, and it has this odd looking castle on the back of the envelope," Dudley informed his mother, while placing them on the counter. 

The woman turned from the table where she had just placed the men's plates. She grabbed the pile of letters and brought them to the table with her as she sat down with her breakfast. She began with the odd envelope. She observed the wax seal, which was in a simple red, with a MMG pattern. She thought of who the initials might belong to, but no one she knew came to mind. She decided to ask her husband, "Vernon, do you know anyone with the initials MMG?"

"No, why would I?" he answered, folding and placing his newspaper on the table. 

"This letter has a seal with the letters MMG and I just couldn't place it."

"Open it up, and find out, Petunia," he remarked. 

As soon as Petunia lifted the flap on the envelope, the entire thing shot out of her hand, hovering at head height next to her, facing the family. The letter floated out and Unfurled, and folded into an angular mouth with bright red lips. The family all gasped.

"Never seen a talking letter before?" the letter retorted, pouting sassily. "You, as the Muggle family of HARRY JAMES POTTER have been cordially invited to attend Hogwarts for HARRY's first week of school beginning on Friday, August 16th and ending on Friday August 23rd for Student-Family week. The festivities will begin on Saturday August 10th with a trip with your student escorted by a hand-picked group of 8th year students to supervise the event. On this day you will buy all necessary supplies for your stay and will have the option to purchase any souvenirs you happen upon. On the 16th, you will will take the Hogwarts Express to the school and take the day to settle in. The following days activities will be set up around the castle for you to test out your magical aptitude. Once classes begin you will attend all classes with your student to either observe or participate (based on the class's specifics) On the final day of your trip, you will attend a gala hosted by two special 8th year students. You will be given the option to floo to and from the school every day with the assistance of your student or can stay with us on campus in guest housing. Enclosed in the envelope is all relevant information, such as a itinerary, shopping list, your student's class schedule, etc. If you choose to attend, please sign the names of all attendees, whether you will be staying with us on campus, a phone number with which you would like us to reach you, and any additional questions you would like us to answer, then burn the form in your fireplace. A school representative will stop by 

The letter slowly fluttered down the the table in front of them, and the Dursleys all stared at the letter, shell-shocked. The room was dead-silent other than the sound of the neighbor's lawnmower drifting in through the open window. 

"Uuuhhh." drawled Vernon. 

"I want to go!" shouted Dudley. He was practically bouncing in his seat. Since his truce with Harry last year, he had discovered that he had actually always been jealous of Harry being able to be apart of this magical world. 

"Absolutely not. We are not going to visit that freak circus of a school!" Vernon roared. 

"But Dad, I want to go to his school. I want to go see the castle and meet witches and wizards," Dudley pleaded.
