When the Doctor opened his eyes, Rose was lying next to him on the couch. He traced her hairline and ran his hands through the blonde strands, sighing softly. As comfortable as he was, he knew it was time to bring Rose for a visit at the Powell estate, otherwise Jackie would have his behind mounted on the wall.

He began to sit up when Rose grabbed his wrist. He looked at her, and she stared back at him with tired brown eyes.

"Don't leave," she begged. "It's warm. Now my side is cold."

He was tempted. Finally, he shook his head.

"I can't. If I don't have you home right now, your mum will kill me."

Rose pouted, pushing out her lower lip. "I can just give her a call. Later. Please?"

The Doctor sat on the couch for another minute before he sighed.

"I suppose we could...stay for a little longer."

He laid back down next to her and draped one arm around her waist. She sighed contentedly and moved closer to him, her back pressed flush against her chest. He gently rested his chin on the top of her head and closed his eyes.

Her breathing slowed and became even; the Doctor stroked her hair and breathed in her scent: coffee and vanilla and soap. He felt himself calming down and relaxed into Rose.

The last thing he thought before he fell asleep was 'Ooh, Jackie's going to kill me.'
