Rose's eyes opened and she rolled out of bed. She and the Doctor had been travelling, as usual, and when the question came up, whether or not she wanted to go home, she said no. But even so, she was mildly confused when she woke up in the TARDIS.
She stumbled across the floor, still half asleep, to the bathroom in her suite. After her shower and hygiene routine, she got dressed and headed downstairs, trying to find the kitchen. Along the way, she could've sworn she smelled bacon, but it must have been her mind playing tricks on her, exploiting her hunger.
She found the control room first and pulled up the map of the TARDIS. After locating the kitchen, she found her way there, where the smell of bacon was unmistakable. The Doctor stood at the stove, pan in hand, and the table already laden with coffee, tea, eggs and biscuits.
He turned and smiled.
"Morning Rose. Bacon's almost ready."
"You're...making breakfast?"
He turned to face the pan and used his spatula to scoop it out.
"What's wrong with that?"
He placed the strips of bacon on a plate and brought it over to the table, where he placed it next to the eggs.
"Nothing, s'just...it's the last thing I expected. I mean, the Doctor, fighting aliens, saving people and cooking breakfast?"
She sat down at the table and poured a coffee. The Doctor sat down across from her.
"Did you just wake up? You're not wearing your suit."
He looked down at his grey shirt and pyjama pants.
"Yes, I did. Are you gonna eat?" he asked, gesturing at her coffee and empty plate.
He piled two eggs and some bacon onto his plate and poured a coffee for himself.
"Do you want cream or sugar?" he asked Rose.
"Yeah, sure," she answered, putting food on her own plate.
The Doctor got up and brought back the cream and sugar for Rose's coffee.
"There you go," he said, sitting back down in his seat.
He salted his eggs and forked some into his mouth. Rose prepared her breakfast and scooped eggs into her mouth.
"Mm, these are gorgeous! You made these? They're fantastic!"
The Doctor put down his fork and picked up his mug.
"Thank you for your faith in me," he said. "When you've lived for as long as I have, you pick up a few things."
Rose continued eating.
"Maybe I should stay overnight in here more often, now that I know about this side of you."
The Doctor put his plate in the sink and sighed.
"Now there's another reason for your mother to kill me."
Rose smiled at him. Was it just her, or was the Doctor adorable when he was scared of her mum?
