"Let me go!" shouted Sorscha, trying to free herself from the soldiers' clutches, but she had no chance.

Janice calmly went to Liam and took the gun from his hand. She then smiled warmly at the group still kneeling on the ground. "I'm sorry, Beth, that shouldn't have happened."

The blonde didn't answer. She just stared darkly at Janice. Beth just didn't want to show any weakness.

Reece now tried to defuse the situation before anything worse happened. "We should all stay calm. Let us go, please."

" Oh no, Reece, you're too valuable. Besides, I already discussed with Sorscha that you all gonna be part of my group now."

Max's heart sank. The thought of fighting for such a cold woman made him more than a little uncomfortable.

Sorscha was still raging in the soldiers' arms. Janice was getting impatient. "Enough now!" she warned.

"Fuck you!" hissed Sorscha, Janice turned to her. Before the Irish woman could say anything else, she was pulled off her feet. The right side of her face exploded in pain as the handle of the gun hit her.

Sorscha fell into a daze, still somewhat aware of the screaming around her but unable to process it. She didn't really realise that she had been dragged away and locked up with the others in one of the villa's many guest rooms.

It took a while for Sorscha to wake up from her confusion between being awake and unconscious. The first thing her blurred vision noticed was Beth leaning over her, her hand on her cheek.

Carly and Reece were arguing loudly. "Carly, stop it, it's suicide!"

" No! I'm not going to sit here waiting to die! We have to do something right now!"

Max stood between the two of them. "Stop arguing!"

" We'll escape, but not today."

Carly and Reece looked towards the voice that rang out. It was Sorscha, who had got back on her feet with the help of Beth.

Night had fallen. Beth couldn't sleep, Sorscha was lying on her chest. Her eyes were closed and she was breathing peacefully. Next to her were Carly and Max, who were also asleep. Only Reece was still awake. He was sitting in an armchair in the room, gazing into the void.

Beth watched the man, the worry clearly visible on his face. She would be lying if she wasn't worried and anxious herself.

"We'll get out of here," Beth said.

"I never wanted this for my son, a life of fear, even if we are in a zombie apocalypse. I was hoping I could give him a normal life."

" We all hope for a normal life. Especially for the people we've lost along the way."

Reece nodded in agreement.

"Autumn was your sister, wasn't she?"

The man sighed, he often thought about her and Marjorie. But he talked far too little about them. " Yes."

Beth tilted her head a little. " You were the older one, weren't you?"

" How do you know that?"

" Just a feeling. I don't have any siblings myself, but I grew up with my cousin like siblings. She was also the younger of the two of us."

When Beth looked up, she was slightly startled to see a black soldier in front of her. She was ordered by Janice to take care of the medical supplies.

The soldier took off his helmet, revealing Sorscha underneath.

"The armour really isn't for you. Black is not your colour," said Beth, trying to bring some light into the whole situation.

" Do you think so?"

" Yes." She walked over to her and ran her fingers over the hard material of the breastplate. " Where do you have to go today?"

" Janice, wants me to scour the area with Reece, Max and a few others to look for walkers...Carly is with you right?" Beth nodded. "This armour is so uncomfortable. The good news is I managed to trip Liam."

The grass was still a little wet in the morning. The group of six soldiers walked through the rural area. Reece walked beside Sorscha, his son behind them. Ahead of them walked the other soldiers.

".... We could overpower them..." whispered Sorscha.

" Are you crazy! I'm not putting my son in danger! And what about Carly and Beth?" Reece replied quietly.

"We'll free them afterwards."

Reece exhaled loudly." Sorscha... I swear to God. If you do anything stupid."

Sorscha was about to contradict him, when shots rang out from the direction of the villa. The group stopped. An engine sounded, and suddenly a black Van shot out from the bushes.

Reece got Sorscha and Max out of the way. The others soldiers were not so lucky and were hit by the car.

The windscreen slowly rolled down and Carly was behind the wheel. "Get in!" Beth was next to her in the passenger seat.

They didn't need to be told twice and quickly got into the car. "You let Carly drive!" shouted Sorscha.

"I'm not a good driver," replied Beth.

"She doesn't even have a driving licence!"

"That's fine. Carly, sweety now you have to put the car in reverse."

The car jerked backwards. "You're explaining to her how to drive while she's driving!" protested Sorscha.

"Max, Buddy, fasten your seatbelt," said Reece calmly.

The car sped off. Carly grinned. " Driving is much easier when you're trying to hit something."

"Look at the road! I'm not going to die in a car crash!" shouted Sorscha from the back seat.
