Plan set in motion

Janice got out of the van, she was with her army outside the Isle of Sheppey. There, they set up camp in a small dock near Kingsferry Bridge. From her position, she could see that the bridge was barricaded.

In the night, they would break through this barricade and take the settlement behind it.

Janice was aware that she had to be careful. To think that Reece, Sorscha, and the rest of this small group would stay away from them was naive. She immediately sent soldiers out to scout the area.

Between the trees and undergrowth near the river, the soldiers were observed.

"They got here pretty quickly," Carly said.

Sorscha nodded. " We have to act fast and stop them."

"We need a plan," Reece said thoughtfully.

Carly looked at the bridge. It was the only link between the mainland and the peninsula. " We could do something similar to what we did in prison."

Sorscha raised an eyebrow. " Set a fire?"

" No, but we could blow up the bridge."

Liam was called over by Janice. The woman placed a black suitcase in front of him. " If anything should happen. My blood is in here. Use it as leverage against the inhabitants."

" As you wish."

" One explosion won't be enough, Janice isn't stupid. She won't send her entire army," Sorscha explained.

Max scratched his head. "Can't we force her?"

"A horde would be good," Carly said.

An idea formed in Sorscha's head. " There is a way to control the zombies. If you wear their skin."

"And what do we use to blow up the bridge?" asked Reece.

"We're at a harbour. There's bound to be gas here," explained Carly.

So the plan was set, now it just had to be implemented.

Reece sighed. "Just take care of yourselves," he said to Carly and Max.

"Don't worry, Dad. I've got Carly with me."

Sorscha stepped up to Carly and gave her a beacon, which she had found in a small, abandoned bot near the river. "When you get close with the horde, give the signal."

Carly nodded. "I will."

Carly and Max made their way to the small town near the Kingsferry Bridge to lure the zombies out.

Reece, Sorscha, and Beth, on the other hand, sneaked into a harbour facility that was not taken by the black army to search for gas. They found what they were looking for in a warehouse.

Only transporting the gas would prove difficult. The gas cylinders were heavy. But luckily for them, there was an old abandoned car on the site, no longer working. But Reece and Sorscha were able to push it.

The car was placed in the centre of the bridge. The black army still seemed to be gathering on the harbour.

Carly was lying in wait. She and Max had hidden behind an old car. The small town was overrun with the undead.

" You stay here... " Carly whispered. She had a knife in her hand.

Slowly, she crept away. She kept an eye out for a zombie that was away from the larger group.

The undead hobbled through the streets until it walked near an alley. Suddenly, Carly grabbed the monster and pulled him into the alley. With a quick stab to the head. The monster was dead.

Carly was about to slice the skin off the undead's face with her knife when another zombie suddenly appeared and attacked her from behind.

The young woman was quick. The zombie had his hands on her, but she was able to overpower him.

Carly took a deep breath that was close. But when she looked at her blood-drenched knife, she felt cold.

The skin on her wrist was torn. A clear bite mark was visible.

Reece stood on the bridge with Sorscha and Beth as night slowly fell."I'll stay here and make the car explode. " said the man.

" I hope Carly and Max manage to lure the zombies here..." Beth muttered.

" I'm going to look for Janice and kill her once and for all." Sorscha spoke resolutely.

"But not alone," said Beth sceptically.

The three adults said their goodbyes.

The night began, and with it, the final battle.
