The End is here

Carly breathed deeply as she covered the wound with her sleeve. She thought she would make it, but fate seemed to have other plans.

"Carly?" Max's voice rang out.

The young woman didn't want to let on. "I've got the skin, let's go and lead the zombies."

Reece had hidden by the barricade on the bridge. Now, it was time to wait. He hoped that everything would work out as he had imagined. He played with the rifle in his hand. Hopefully, the explosion would be strong enough to tear a hole in the bridge.

He imagined that this was like Autumn must have felt when she tore the hole in the ice to save everyone. Part of him couldn't help but think that history would repeat itself tonight.

Beth and Sorscha crept through the harbour area near Kingsferry Bridge. The darkness gave them good cover from the soldiers keeping watch.

"So we kill Janice, save the inhabitants of the Isle of Sheppey, and then what?"

Sorscha looked over her shoulder and smiled slightly. " We find the nearest priest on this peninsula and get officially married."

Beth giggled softly. " My love, we're already married."

" Yes, I know, but I mean officially. If this really is a real society like they say it is. Then I want us to have the same surname."

"Beth Doyle, well, I can live with that."

But Sorscha suddenly stopped and looked directly at her wife. "I'll take your surname."

This surprised the blonde. " Really? Well, Sorscha Anderson doesn't sound too bad either."

Sorscha grinned. " Yeah, i know, right... Besides, I know for a fact that Clodagh would come back to haunt us if I gave my surname to another woman."

Beth laughed. "Well, I don't want a fight with a ghost."

The two took cover when suddenly a flarelit up the sky. The zombies were here, pouring into the harbour.

The warehouse opened up, and the black army began to fight the undead. Beth and Sorscha found shelter among the old ship container and waited.

Max and Carly ran through the chaos as the soldiers began to flee the harbour area. But with the help of the masks they were wearing, they were able to keep the undead at bay.

Carly realised how her body was slowly beginning to shut down. Sooner or later, she would not be able to go any further. But she didn't want to give up yet, Max needed her.

The soldiers fired blindly into the crowd, Carly was thrown to the ground when a bullet hit her leg.

"Carly!" Max tried to help her up again. But the young woman stopped him.

"Max, I've been bitten..."

" What?!"

She put down the mask, there was no point anymore. " Max run... go to your father and help him!"

The zombies around them notice the person who had revealed themselves. Max refused to give up and tried to pull Carly up again. But Carly didn't move. "Go!" she shouted.

The young man let go of her arm and ran on, he didn't want to see.

Carly looked after him. She was at peace with what was about to happen. The first undead lunged at her.

The soldiers fled onto the bridge, where Reece was waiting for them. Waiting until he was sure that pretty much all of the army was on the bridge.

He took aim with his rifle and fired, the car exploded immediately.
