Sorscha was dragged into what appeared to be the villa's study. There, she was forcibly placed in a chair. Janice smiled at the soldiers before sending them out.

On the table in front of Sorscha was a map of Englang.

"You have a lot of courage. Do you really think these ties will stop me from jumping at your throat?"

Janice laughed. " Wow... Well, if you want my men to kill your friends, go ahead. But why so violent, Sorscha? I thought you wanted to let past rest."

Anger rose in the irish. How did this woman know all this? "Have you been following me?"

Cigarette smoke filled the air. "One month after I founded the black army, a man came to me. Without a real goal in life, without a task. I gave him one, and he gave me a lot of information."

The realisation settled on Sorscha. It could only be one person.

Beth couldn't believe it, she stared at the man in disbelief. She thought he was dead. Like all the others she had known. But here he was, her childhood friend. But there was something different about him. His eyes were cold. She didn't recognise him.

Finally, she found her words again. "... You betrayed us..."

Liam just looked at her sceptically.

"They're all dead! Because of you! Liam, they killed your family! How could you... oh God... why... Sophie and Ava....," Beth cried, tears forming in her eyes.

Liam got up from his crouch." I did what I thought was right. For the bigger picture."

"You bloody murderer!" screamed Beth. If she wasn't surrounded by armed soldiers, she would attack him despite her ties.

" Murderer?! Me! Have you forgotten who your wife is?! She's a murderer! I hope Janice does the right thing and only brings her head back!" snarled Liam. He was about to put his helmet back on when Beth said something that ignited his anger.

"No, Sorscha will bring me hers... and then yours...", these words hadn't even left Beth's mouth before something hit her hard in the face.

Liam had hit her with all his strength. Carly and Reece flinched. But Liam drew his gun and pointed it at them. "One move and you die!"

Beth stirred again and slowly sat up. She looked up and gave the man she had once called a friend a dark gaze, the blood running from her split lip and dripped to the floor. "You're are pathetic!"

"London isn't even the destination?" asked Sorscha, following the woman with her gaze. Janice nodded and took a drag. "No, we only have to cross London to get to our actual destination. The Isle of Sheppey, a real society, has been rebuilt on this peninsula. And I'm going to give them a cure."

"So you want to sacrifice yourself for humanity, how generous," Sorscha said sarcastically.

"I'm not sacrificing myself. They can have my blood, but nothing more, and I want something in return, of course."

"What do you want to be Prime Minister?"

Janice laughed. "You're funny, I'll give you that. Something like that."

Sorscha frowned. What kind of power trip was this woman on? " Fine, then do your thing but leave us out of it."

"Don't you want to be a part of it, Sorscha? After all the suffering you've caused, finally do the right thing."

" No."

Janice grinned. " Really? That was more of a request for you and your friends to keep your lives. I need people like you, ruthless and cold. I have a question for you Sorscha, what's the worst thing you've ever done?"

Sorscha scoffed." Is that a joke? Where should I start?"

"Well then, let's put it different. What's the worst thing you've done to ensure someone else's survival?"

Sorscha immediately remembers a night, many years ago, when bandits attacked the farm where she lived and dared to take Beth hostage. "I hunted down five men after they kidnapped Beth. They were animals in my eyes, and I killed them like animals. One by one."

Janice stubbed out her cigarette. "You fit perfectly into my army."

Sorscha was surprised when Janice took off her ties. They went back into the entrance hall. When Sorscha saw Liam pointing his gun at Beth, she immediately saw red. But when she tried to storm off, she was held back by soldiers.

"Liam, my God, put the gun away. These are our guests," said Janice. "And new members of the army."
