Ignis 23, 1942

President Denver Brooks sat in his office, his mind racing with the events of the previous day. The attack on the Remdant Public Market had left the nation in shock and the citizens of Remdant gripped by fear and uncertainty. The anxiety rippling through the streets was palpable, and Brooks knew he needed to address the public swiftly, reassuring them that their government was in control and that justice would be served.

He scheduled a media conference to address the nation. No questions were to be taken, as he wanted to focus solely on delivering a message of calm and reassurance. The Purple Office was prepared for the address, and as the time approached, the gravity of the situation weighed heavily on Brooks. He stood in front of the podium, cameras ready to broadcast his message across Eldoria.

At exactly noon, President Brooks began his speech, his tone measured but firm. "My fellow Eldorians, yesterday, our great city of Remdant suffered a terrible attack—a cowardly act designed to sow fear and division among us. But let me be clear: we will not be intimidated. We will not allow fear to dictate our lives. Our resolve is stronger than ever, and we will find those responsible for this heinous crime."

He paused, allowing his words to sink in. The nation needed to hear this. "The safety of our citizens is my utmost priority. We have already mobilized every resource at our disposal to investigate this attack and ensure the security of Remdant and all of Eldoria. I have full confidence in our law enforcement, our intelligence agencies, and our emergency services. They are working tirelessly to protect us, and they will not rest until justice is served."

Brooks's voice grew more resolute as he continued. "To the families of those who lost their lives, and to those who are injured, I offer my deepest condolences. We stand with you in this time of sorrow. Eldoria stands with you. Our nation is built on the principles of Justice, Fairness, and Freedom—principles that will guide us through this difficult time."

He concluded with a message of unity. "This attack was meant to divide us, but it will only make us stronger. Together, we will overcome this challenge, as we have done so many times before. We will remain vigilant, and we will move forward, united and resolute."

As the cameras turned off, Brooks felt a momentary relief. He had delivered his message, but he knew the real work was far from over. The public needed reassurance, but they also needed results.

Meanwhile, in the depths of Remdant City, the investigation was taking a significant turn. EIA Special Agent Rona Erktun, acting on orders from Director Olga Riverbanks, was leading a team of agents through the debris of the Remdant Public Market. Amid the rubble, they uncovered something unexpected: a hidden tunnel beneath the market, its entrance obscured by debris from the explosion.

Agent Erktun crouched near the tunnel's entrance, her flashlight cutting through the darkness. The tunnel was long, damp, and winding, resembling an old sewer system. It stretched far beneath the city, its walls lined with a layer of grime and moss. Erktun's instincts told her that this was no ordinary tunnel—it had likely been used by the attackers to plant the bombs and then escape unnoticed.

"This is it," she murmured to herself, her voice echoing faintly in the tunnel. "This is how they did it."

She quickly relayed her findings to Director Riverbanks, who was monitoring the situation closely. "Director, we've found a tunnel beneath the market. It looks like it was used by the bombers. We're going to explore it further and see where it leads."

Riverbanks responded swiftly. "Good work, Rona. Proceed with caution. We need to find out where that tunnel goes and who's responsible for this."

Erktun and her team moved deeper into the tunnel, their senses on high alert. The air grew colder and more stale as they ventured further, the sound of their footsteps echoing in the confined space. The tunnel twisted and turned, leading them through a labyrinth of passages beneath the city.
