Joeys POV

'Hey, I'm Joey'

I gestured for the girl standing before me to shake my hand, instead she took a step back and curtsied whilst smiling up at me. Honestly I wish I had the energy to care about talking to her, but my attention was focused on more important things like Daniel mopping the floor a few meters to my left. I would much rather be talking to him, you know learning stuff about my new best friend.

'Catherine. My friends call me Cat'

Her voice was high pitched and already irritating even though she had only said six words. I also didn't like the way she was looking at me, as if she was better than me, as if my father were looking at Daniel. It turned my stomach.

Speaking of Daniel, he had moved closer now and was within ear shot, which actually made me feel a lot more comfortable. Anyway, what was she saying? Oh yeah 'friends call me Cat'

'Catherine it is then'

I heard Daniel giggle to himself at my comment and apparently so did Catherine.

'Excuse me servant do you have a problem?'

Daniels smile dropped as he met her evil glare.

'Erm I was- I just-'

She turned from Daniel to me holding the disgusted expression.

'Didn't you teach it to talk?'

IT? IT? Who does this bitch think she is? How dare she call him an it, if anyone in this room should be called an it it's her. I wanted to scream at her, rip her hair out, wipe that smug look off her face, but I couldn't. I was too angry to even think.

'Leave'

'Excuse me?'

'You're excused, now get out of my castle.'

'No! I want to speak to the king immediately'

'You're in no position to be giving orders sweet heart'

'Fine I'll find him myself'

She stormed out of the room calling for my father, turning back to glare at me before she exited. She'll find him eventually so I need to get Daniel out of here, if he takes his anger out on any one it'll be him.

'Joey I'm-'

'Don't you dare apologise, you're allowed to have an opinion and laugh at a joke, just because she couldn't handle the fact that I'm way out of her league'

He smiled at the ground and then looked up at me about to talk.

'Don't you dare say thank you either.'

He crossed his arms furrowing his eye brows mockingly.

'Fine'

'Come on, we should probably get out of-'

Daniels eyes flickered to the door and his facial expression changed from fake anger to sheer terror. I've never seen someone so scared in my whole life, which is saying something when you're raised around your father terrorising people. I followed the direction of his stare to the source. Now I understand. My father stood furious at the door with Catherine smug as ever behind him.

'It was that one'

She pointed her finger at Daniel and walked off in a snobby fashion that fitted her oh so well.

'You'

His voice was loud and low, it was made worse by how large and empty the room was. He began to pace towards Daniel who was now trembling where he stood.
