Narrators POV

When Joey got back to the castle that night he packed a bag with clothes for Daniel and himself. He added some paints and brushes as well as a couple blankets incase it was cold at night.

He placed the bag next to the door and climbed into bed with a smile on his face, he was upset that Daniel wasn't with him right now, but he knew he'd see him again in a couple hours.

He struggled to sleep at first due to excitement, however sleep soon overtook him and he drifted into a deep slumber, a smile still pulling at his lips.

The sun peeked in Joeys bedroom window, lighting his hair up like a fiery halo. He lifted his head from the pillow, fluffy hair falling on his face like it usually did in the mornings. The suns vibrant rays sent a glossy, gold sheen all around the room, blending with the falling leaves of Autumn. He closed his eyes again, the suns waking rays warming his body.

The last fleeting memories of his dream faded as he awoke more and more, as his dreams disappeared, yesterday's events came flooding back, it was sunrise he should be at the gate to meet Daniel.

He through the covers off himself and ran to the door, grabbing his packed bag and a clumsily shoving on a pair of shoes. He ran through the corridors trying to maintain steady breathing, which was hard due to the added excitement of seeing Daniel.

When he got outside the fresh morning air flooded his lungs making him feel renewed and alive. As he crossed the court yard and approached the gate he noticed something. Daniel wasn't there.

'He should be here'

He clutched his bag tighter, looking from the gate to the castle a few times.

It's ok, he's probably just late

He tried to think positively despite floods of negative thoughts harassing his mind. However this become increasingly difficult as seconds turned to minutes and minutes became long hours, three to be exact. But Joey refused to lose faith in Daniel, he just sat on the dirt path and started blankly at the gate.

'Joey!'

He shot his head round only to be disappointed by his fathers sluggish figure blocking the sun.

'Oh, hi dad'

'Why so glum my boy? And what's that bag for? Where are you going?'

Still drowning in heartache he looked from his bag to his father and let out a deep sigh.

'No where'

'Then why do-'

'I said I'm not going anywhere, so that means I'm not fucking going anywhere!'

With his misery quickly turing into anger he pushed himself from the ground and forced himself passed his father, who was now more confused than anything.

Joey made his way through the castle punching doors and kicking walls as he went. When he finally reached his room he slammed the door and threw himself onto the bed, taking fistfuls of pillow and squeezing as hard as he could to relieve some anger.

The tears soon started to fall ass he buried his face deeper and deeper into the soft fabric. What made things worse was the subtle hint of Daniel he could smell on the pillow from a few nights before. It was sweet and almost calming in any other situation, but not right now. Right now Joey didn't want to think about Daniel.
