Kafka awoke to the dim light filtering through her room in the Stellaron base. Blinking a few times, she stretched out her arms with a soft sigh, pushing back the thick, silky sheets as she rose from her bed. Her movements were graceful, even half-awake, as she padded over to the bathroom to start her morning routine.
She took her time, slipping off her pajamas and stepping into the shower. The warm water washed away any last traces of sleepiness, and she enjoyed the quiet moments alone in the softly-lit bathroom, savoring the calm before another day's work. As she rinsed her lavender hair, Kafka's thoughts drifted to last night's events-the new recruit, y/n, had introduced himself to the team.
He'd seemed calm and composed, perhaps a little shy but polite, and with a quiet determination she found intriguing. New recruits always added an air of excitement to the base, shaking up the usual dynamics and routines, and y/n was no exception. She was curious to see how he'd adapt to their unique lifestyle here.
After a few moments, she turned off the water, wrapping herself in a towel as she stepped out of the shower, leaving a faint mist lingering in the air. She carefully brushed her hair, watching her reflection with a faint, amused smile as she perfected her look. She picked out her usual sharp, tailored outfit and put on her signature gloves, giving herself one last satisfied glance in the mirror. Today, she thought, she'd have a nice, quiet morning, perhaps even get a head start on breakfast.
As she made her way down the silent corridors, her heels clicking softly against the floor, Kafka hummed to herself. The base was peaceful at this hour, the others would still be asleep, leaving her the rare opportunity to enjoy some solitude. She strolled into the kitchen, fully expecting it to be empty.
But instead, she was met with a surprise , the steady, rhythmic sound of chopping. She paused, listening intently. Someone was already here.
Curious, Kafka moved closer and peeked around the corner. There, standing at the counter, was y/n. His back was to her, but she could see the careful concentration in his posture as he worked over a cutting board, neatly chopping bacon. The sound of the knife slicing through the meat was rhythmic, almost meditative, and the sizzle of the pan added to the morning symphony of the kitchen.
Kafka smirked, her eyes narrowing slightly in amusement. She had expected the base to be quiet, with most people still asleep. It seemed y/n had a different idea for his first morning here.
Kafka: Ara... wasn't expecting you to wake up this early, y/n, You didn't have to bother with waking up this early. It's normally part of my chores to prepare breakfast
She remarked effortlessly, walking into the kitchen and casually resting against the counter.
Y/n: Oh, good morning, Kafka.
he replied, glancing over his shoulder as he worked the stove, his tone slightly flustered but polite.
Y/n: I didn't mean to get a head start in the kitchen. I guess I'm just used to it-from my time at the academy and... well, taking care of my little sister back in the Underground
He turned back to the stove, flipping the bacon with practiced ease.
Kafka's smile widened at his words, a hint of admiration in her expression.
Kafka:(teasing) I see, Sounds like you're quite the responsible one, taking care of your little sister. I suppose it makes sense that you'd have a knack for the kitchen.
Y/n shrugged modestly, his hands still working with the ingredients in front of him.
Y/n: It just became a part of my routine. It's not much, but I guess I'm used to it
