The two of them sat side by side on the old wooden swing, the one that hung from the balcony of the room where Jungkook had spent so many days of his life just a few months ago. The air was filled with the scent of the countryside, the distant chirping of crickets creating a soothing symphony. It was the same balcony where they had sat three months ago, their hearts heavy with unspoken fears and uncertainties. The atmosphere tonight was eerily similar, yet there was something different in the air—a quiet hope, a flicker of happiness that had been missing before.

They sat in silence, letting the moment stretch between them. The stars above twinkled like tiny diamonds against the velvet sky. As they gazed up together, Taehyung finally broke the silence.

“Do you remember the day we sat here three months back?” Taehyung asked, his voice soft, almost a whisper as he looked up at the stars.

Jungkook turned to him with a soft smile. “I do,” he said, his eyes reflecting the starlight. He tilted his head back, letting the memories wash over him.

“And you said your mom told you there would be someone who would stargaze with you... someone who would make you feel like you’re never alone,” Taehyung continued, his voice tender and filled with something unspoken.

Jungkook’s smile faltered slightly, a sad glimmer passing through his eyes at the mention of his late mother. “Hmm,” he murmured, his throat tightening as he nodded.

Taehyung turned to face him, his eyes full of determination, as if he had been waiting for this moment for so long. “Jungkook, I want to be that person for you,” he said, his words rushing out in a fervent whisper.

Jungkook’s heart skipped a beat. His wide eyes turned to meet Taehyung’s, and for a moment, he forgot how to breathe. But then, insecurity crept in like a shadow, darkening his expression. “Hyungie... I’m a... burden. I’m nothing but a brat who barged into your world,” Jungkook said, his voice shaking with fear and doubt. It was the deepest wound in his heart, the fear of being unworthy, of being a nuisance.

Taehyung’s eyes softened, and without hesitation, he reached out, cupping Jungkook’s face with gentle hands. “My baby, you are not a burden. Who lied to you and made you believe that?” he said, his voice full of fierce protectiveness.

Jungkook’s lips quivered, tears welling up in his eyes. “But I—”

“No,” Taehyung cut him off gently but firmly. “You’re not a burden. I call you my polar star, you know that? Because you guide me. You are the ultimate light in my dark world,” he confessed, his voice breaking slightly as he poured his heart out. “Yes, you barged into my silent life and turned it upside down, created chaos everywhere. And I fell in love with that chaos. I fell in love with you, Jungkook, in a way that now, this silence... it kills me.”

Jungkook was openly crying now, the tears streaming down his cheeks as he listened to Taehyung’s heartfelt words.

Taehyung continued, his thumb gently brushing away Jungkook’s tears. “Even if you’re a brat, you’re my brat. I love you, Jungkook. And I can’t live without you,” he confessed, his voice raw with emotion. “When people used to talk about love like this, I always thought it was exaggerated, unreal. But now... now that I’m here, feeling it... I realize how suffocating it is to be without you. Everything feels empty, cold, and suffocating when you’re not around. I feel this... this urge, this need to love you, to give you everything I have. And if the heavens are merciful, to receive your love in return.”

I’m so down bad for you, Jungkook,” he confessed, his voice cracking

Then, as if a dam had broken, Taehyung poured his heart out to Jungkook.

“The first time I saw you wasn’t when you noticed me at the train station,” he began softly. “You didn't see me, but I saw you earlier than that. You were standing there, the petal of a cherry blossom falling gently onto your cheek and gliding down to your neck. I couldn’t stop myself; I said  out loud, ‘Beautiful.’”

Jungkook’s eyes widened, and Taehyung continued, voice trembling slightly. “The second time I saw you, you were struggling to carry too many trolly bags , your brows furrowed in concentration. And all I could think was, ‘Cute.’”

Taehyung chuckled softly, lost in the memory. “The third time… you were helping my eomma garnishing pancakes I couldn’t hold back the word ‘Adorable.’”

By now, Jungkook’s eyes were shimmering with unshed tears. Taehyung’s voice dropped to a whisper, filled with a tenderness that left Jungkook breathless. “And by the fourth time, Jungkook, I was already in love.”

Then, before Jungkook could even process it, Taehyung dropped to one knee, pulling out a small velvet box from his pocket. He opened it to reveal a simple, elegant ring that glimmered in the soft moonlight. “Jungkook, will you marry me? And brighten my life with your existence  ” Taehyung asked, his eyes shining with both vulnerability and hope.

Jungkook was crying so hard now that he could barely see through his tears, but he nodded frantically, words stuck in his throat. He extended his hand, his fingers trembling, and Taehyung’s own hands were shaking as he slid the ring onto Jungkook’s finger.

“I love you so much, hyungie,” Jungkook choked out between sobs, his arms flying around Taehyung’s neck as he hugged him tightly. “So, so much... for so long. I love you,” he cried out, burying his face into Taehyung’s shoulder.

Taehyung wrapped his arms around the younger, holding him close, his own tears finally spilling over as he pressed his lips to Jungkook’s ear. “I love you , my polar star ,” he whispered, pulling back just enough to capture Jungkook’s lips in a kiss.

The kiss was everything they had held back for so long—a mix of passion, relief, and an overwhelming flood of love. Taehyung’s lips were soft yet demanding, moving against Jungkook’s with a hunger that spoke of all the days he had yearned for this moment. Jungkook melted into the kiss, his hands clutching onto Taehyung’s shirt, pulling him closer as if he never wanted to let go. Their tongues danced together, tasting each other, conveying the love and longing they had both carried in their hearts for so long. The world around them disappeared; it was just the two of them, lost in their kiss under the blanket of stars.

When they finally pulled apart, panting and breathless, Jungkook’s cheeks were flushed, his eyes sparkling with a new light.

“I’ll marry you,” he said with a cheeky grin, his tears now replaced with a playful glint, “but only if you do a hundred push-ups for me right now.”

Taehyung laughed, shaking his head in disbelief at the younger’s antics. “My brat,” he murmured, leaning in to kiss Jungkook’s forehead softly. “I’d do a thousand if it meant making you happy.”

As the stars sparkled in the night sky, Jungkook's mother, from somewhere beyond the heavens, looked down at her precious Koo, her heart full as she saw him in the arms of his beloved

The universe seemed to whisper her blessing. The stars twinkled as if smiling, the wind carrying a soft murmur, a mother's silent wish: "My Jungkookie, you’ve  finally found your way home."
