For the next few minutes, Taehyung watched Jungkook scramble around the kitchen, trying to find the right ingredients and utensils. Despite his flurry of activity, there was something endearing about the younger's clumsy yet enthusiastic efforts.
Jungkook was mixing the eggs vigorously, muttering under his breath as he threw in random herbs. "Mumma said parsley goes well with everything... or was it cilantro?"
"You sure you know what you’re doing?" Taehyung teased, leaning on his elbows, enjoying the show.
Jungkook glared at him. "Shh! Great artists need silence to focus."
Taehyung snickered, but obliged, watching as Jungkook carefully poured the egg mixture into a heated pan. The sizzling sound filled the kitchen, and Jungkook’s eyes gleamed with pride. He sprinkled some vegetables on top and gave Taehyung a quick, triumphant look.
"Just wait, Taehyungie hyung. You’ll be proposing to me after this."
"I’ll be the judge of that," Taehyung said, pretending to be indifferent, but the smile playing at his lips gave him away.
Jungkook flipped the omelette with a bit too much force, causing a small piece to fly onto the counter. He quickly picked it up, threw it into the trash, and continued as if nothing happened. Taehyung watched, trying not to laugh.
Finally, after what seemed like a long battle between Jungkook and the stove, the omelette was done. Jungkook placed it on a plate with a flourish and brought it over to Taehyung, his face glowing with excitement.
"Ta-da! Your perfect omelette, served by your future husband," Jungkook declared, placing the plate in front of Taehyung.
Jungkook stood proudly as Taehyung eyed the omelette, fork in hand. But before he could take a bite, a napkin caught fire on the stove.
"Jungkook!" Taehyung shouted, leaping up to grab the napkin.
"What—!" Jungkook panicked, swatting at the flames with his dish-cloth. The fire went out, leaving a burnt mess on the counter. Jungkook blinked, staring at the charred remains of the napkin.
"Oops," he muttered, smiling sheepishly .
" This is a grand presentation from my side starting off with fire crackers ", jungkook said not admitting that it was an accident .
Taehyung sat back down, "So, this is the grand presentation, huh? Flaming napkins and all?"
Jungkook pouted, brushing off the burnt pieces and quickly returning to his masterpiece omelette. "Try the omelette!"
Taehyung stabbed a piece with his fork and hesitantly took a bite. The moment it hit his tongue, his expression faltered. He looked down at the food, then at Jungkook.
"What... what did you put in this?"
Jungkook tilted his head, clearly confused. "What do you mean? I just threw in some herbs. Mumma said parsley goes well with eggs, right?"
Taehyung raised an eyebrow and looked closely at the omelette. It was filled with random greens that didn’t even look edible. "This is... what is this? Is this even parsley?"
Jungkook squinted at the pile of greenery he’d thrown into the eggs earlier. "Uh... well, it’s green! So, close enough?"
Taehyung sighed, setting the fork down. "You sure this isn't some plant you picked up from the garden? This tastes like grass, Jungkook."
Jungkook frowned, looking genuinely perplexed. "But it looked like the stuff mumma uses..."
Taehyung leaned back, arms crossed. "And what’s this crunchy bit?"
Jungkook scratched his head. "I thought it was a spice...?"
Taehyung shook his head. "I think it’s a pebble. Did you just throw everything you found in the kitchen into this?"
Jungkook blushed, his bravado deflating. "Okay, so maybe I don’t know my herbs... or spices."
Taehyung chuckled, pushing the plate away. "If you’re trying to poison me, just say it."
"Hey! I was trying to impress you!" Jungkook whined, crossing his arms in frustration.
"Well," Taehyung said, leaning back in his chair with a smug grin, "you definitely made an impression."
Jungkook glared, then huffed, taking the omelette back. "Fine, if you don’t appreciate my hard work, you don’t get to eat!"
Taehyung, now actually hungry, quickly got up. "Wait! I didn’t say that—"
"Nope! No food for you!" Jungkook shot back, hiding the plate behind his back as he stormed off to the kitchen.
Taehyung followed after him, protesting. "I’m sorry, I’m sorry! I’ll eat it!"
Jungkook spun around, hands on his hips, narrowing his eyes. "Apologize to my cooking properly first."
Taehyung, desperate, sighed. "Fine. I apologize... to the omelette."
Jungkook still didn’t budge. "And?"
"And... I won’t complain the next time you cook."
Jungkook smiled triumphantly, handing the plate back. "Deal."
Taehyung stared at the omelette for a second, sighed, and took another bite. "Still tastes like grass," he muttered under his breath.
Jungkook just grinned, ignoring the comment. "Next time, I’ll cook something even better! You’ll see!"
