In the bustling guild hall, where a kaleidoscope of races and languages filled the air, a beautiful jade-haired elf and a petite blonde girl, no older than seven years old, made their way towards the reception desk. The beautiful red-haired werewolf woman behind the counter looked up from her work, her eyes locking onto the elf with a hint of exhaustion.
''Rose.'' said the elf curtly as she approached.
''Welcome, Loki Familia Vice Captain Riveria Ljos Alf-sama. What brings you here today?'' Rose replied formally, her stoic expression betraying exhaustion. Her words dripped with an air of duty rather than genuine enthusiasm.
Riveria rolled her eyes in response. ''You can stop with the formal greetings, Rose. You're not even acting like you mean it.''
Rose sighed inwardly before responding. ''It says in the manual that we're supposed to do that for major Familias... If we don't do what we're supposed to, we get a pay cut... I don't really want to do it, especially not towards Siri-chan who laughs at me when I greet her that way since the Astraea Familia became major as well.''
Riveria chuckled softly. ''I could imagine Sigrid would laugh at you. It seems you've changed a bit from when we first met five years ago. You were so innocent then.'' Her eyes glinted with amusement. ''Though that willfulness of yours hasn't gone anywhere, I see.''
Rose sighed in exasperation. ''That was right after I started. Could you please not bring up things from forever ago? I'm sure you didn't come here to shoot the breeze.'' Her tone was curt, though not unkind. ''If this is going to be a pain, I'd rather get it over with. They get fussy over every little thing when we deal with you guys or Freya Familia... or Siri-chan and her familia when they make a mess again catching thieves or stopping street fights like usual.''
''Yes, I'd like you to process a new registration.''
Rose raised an eyebrow. ''Registering an adventurer...and where is this said new adventurer? I can't register someone if they aren't present themselves.''
''She's here.'' Riveria replied simply.
''Huh?'' Rose looked around in confusion, then her eyes widened as Riveria stepped aside to reveal the petite blonde girl hiding behind her.
Rose blinked in surprise. ''This little runt? She's even smaller than when Siri-chan registered herself four years ago at age eight.'' she remarked, looking the child over with a critical eye.
''I would like to register this girl as an adventurer.'' Riveria stated.
Rose sighed. ''...All right, all right. I'll take care of it.''
''Can you write?'' Riveria asked the young girl gently.
''...Yeah.'' she replied simply.
Rose brought out a registration form and set it on the desk. The girl began filling it out until Riveria noticed something.
''Wait, those are hieroglyphs? Use Koine.'' Riveria instructed.
The girl switched to the common tongue without complaint.
''Seriously, a kid who can write hieroglyphs?'' Rose muttered. ''I hope she's not another Siri-chan...''
After finishing, Riveria handed the form to Rose.
''Name... Aiz Wallenstein. Age seven, eh? A year younger than Siri-chan when she registered. And absolutely nothing else...'' Rose read thoughtfully. ''Her place of birth is blank, background is blank, everything else is blank, blank, blank...''
''Is there a problem?'' Riveria asked.
Rose studied the girl, who met her gaze calmly. Rose sighed. ''None at all. Welcome to Labyrinth City Orario. From today onwards, you're an adventurer.''
